Yes, not happy with leadership here at all. Banning Link was arguably racist and what I saw of the circumstances around it were cringeworthy if one is being generous. I caught wind of but didn't see other egregious happenings. If this place is going to truly thrive, someone else needs to lead it.
Remembering that there was a time when Friendster was a big deal, and MySpace, and Vine. Hopes were high for Google+ and AIM... Damn, I can remember ICQ.

All gone.

Caught a glimpse of the CBC #RemembranceDay programming while I was having dinner.

With all that's happening in world, we could honour the lives of those who died by remembering what they lost their lives fighting against, and talking about how that battle needs to continue much closer to home now.

if there was a national day of cancelling your party membership over healthcare just to put the fear of god into them with some hard numbers, that’s where I think I’m at now

it’s been coming on for awhile now, I simply don’t feel represented by this party even on the things they claim as priorities
even when the democratic party has leverage and one of the craziest election swings the party intentionally self immolates it’s just so exhausting what is even the point of these people

1) Nobody given a rubric for friendliness has ever come across as friendly. You have to commit to the underlying mentality. The surface level gestures read as sarcasm otherwise.

2) So you want to give employees a *motive* to seem like they're monitoring Black folk? Guess who'll never shop there? 🙄
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

It takes a lot of courage to scream into the faces of experts that you know better. It doesn't make you right or suggest others should follow your example. Sometimes courage is a stand-in for wisdom or self-reflection and you're better served examining why you feel courage to act is necessary.
JUSTICE AMY CONEY BARRETT:

“Being a conservative woman in a law school, particularly, takes a lot of courage and independence, and in many ways shows more feminism than just falling into some predetermined vision of what a woman should be.”

Incredible to watch this play out, cities/states mobilizing to defend against Federal gov't. I've seen @stateofthecity.bsky.social talk about his research into mayors/cities & this reminds me so much of other historical moments, like (as mayor) Konrad Adenauer keeping Cologne fed & stable in WWI.

Mark Carney's first budget included billions in new spending, cuts to the public service, and....the end of a luxury tax on boats and personal aircraft?

What that says about his approach to governing — and why it's worth paying attention to.

Wealth cannot be separated from power because money is, among other things, a fungible form of power so long as it is functioning as intended.

Wealth that does not take the form of money or liquid assets is a somewhat different story. Sometimes quite uniquely powerful.
Remember: Wealth cannot be separated from power.

We've seen how the extreme concentration of wealth is distorting our politics, rigging our markets, and granting unprecedented power to a handful of billionaires.

Be warned.
