Seems about right ...
Yes, it should.

I was a White House ethics lawyer.

I used to advise people not to even accept a free cup of coffee from someone who had interests before them. And staff followed those rules.

I can’t even find the words to describe the scale of Trump’s corruption here.
Foreign countries are bribing our president to sell out the American people.

Trump family businesses made $187 MILLION from this deal, and just months later he gave the UAE some of our most top-secret AI tech.

They are selling our national security to the highest bidder.

It's time for an all-encompassing review of how UK politics are funded, from the think tanks to foreign media ownership. It's a joke that the same people who parp about sovereignty are so relaxed about Russian and American money influencing te political conversation.

The thing is that whatever "human right" is under threat, you can be fairly confident that it won't be a right that applies to white, western, middle-class etc. men.

Speaking as one of the above, I am not complacent about the implications of that fact on everyone else.

Nor should you be.

44% of the population of Denton and Gorton are ethnic minority, the majority of them born in the UK.

Reform's candidate says those people aren't British and are liable for deportation.

It's a bold electoral strategy: vote for me and I'll throw you into the sea.

Reform byelection candidate refuses to disown claim that people born in UK not necessarily British
Matthew Goodwin, who is standing in Gorton and Denton, said UK-born people from minority ethnic backgrounds were not always British

In case you missed it: My suggestion that Farage was whispering to Trump behind the scenes while Trump was going after Greenland has been essentially confirmed.

As @jamesdaustin.bsky.social notes: Working against your country's interest with a semi-hostile state - there's a word for that.

Someone sent this to me earlier.

It's a genuine Farage quote from 2015 and boy does that not say it all about the defender of British culture.

I guess I do think if you participated in the arrest of a five-year-old you are probably just fundamentally incompatible with society. That you are not a safe person for humanity to be around, generally

Can't be bothered to get up and switch off the radio in the kitchen, which means I am hearing PMQs and being reminded in no uncertain terms why I never normally listen to these things, but read about it later.

What an absurd way to (try to) run a country. It's just embarrassing.

Not quite sure what this guy has seen smoking, but he should market it. As far as I can tell from the footage I have seen, selective though it may be, this is exactly how ICE is behaving.

I wonder if Trump realises that many of the prior invocations of the Insurrection Act were against white supremacists, or to prevent obstruction of civil rights implementations and so on ...

Probably one of the bits of history currently being wiped from museum walls.

Probably worth pointing out to Badenoch that "psychodrama" is a therapy technique partly involving role-play (like pretending to be a functioning political party leader) and not the "psychotic drama" she obviously thinks it is ...

If you are critical of someone on social media you often get pushback along the lines of "You couldn't do it!".

That may be true, but it's irrelevant - the key point is that I probably haven't claimed to be able to do whatever it is and neither have I tried and screwed it up.

People really need to stop confusing what is happening on Twitter/X with "free speech".

The general lack of understanding of any of the accepted principles of freedom of speech is disturbing, and a large part of why we are having these discussions.

Can any farmers tell me whether this absurd situation applies in the UK as well?
🚜 🧵 1/7 A farmer buys a $250,000 John Deere tractor. It breaks during harvest. They can fix it themselves - but the tractor won't start after the repair. Why? John Deere owns the software, and only authorized dealers can make it run. Farmers don't fully own what they bought.

A lot of people are sharing the "90% of Reform supporting comments are bots" post at the moment.

Although there are several valid studies concluding something similar, but with lower percentages, I haven't been able to verify this one so best not to give them the "fake news" excuse by sharing it.

As Trump pays billions to Argentina’s beef industry, fucking over his own Midwestern farmers, he’ll also pay billions to private companies to drill oil in Venezuela so it can be sold cheaply in America - which will screw Texas.
Far-right, idiotic economy pushed by Republicans and cheered by Farage.
