President Catherine Connolly has called for action on war, genocide and climate change, saying the normalisation of war “has never been and will never be acceptable” to Ireland, a nation with a long tradition of neutrality and peacekeeping.

Can borrow to buy lashings of pew-pews we don't have the personal to operate or maintain.
Can't borrow to house the thousands of people officially homeless.
Clearly the welfare of the people of Ireland is not paramount.

That €150 BILLION EURO that @simonharrisireland.bsky.social and @micheal-martin.bsky.social want to spend on military would buy 300,000 houses at €500,000.
I wonder what armaments companies they are talking to already?

What bothers me is that impartiality and balance are two different and incompatible things. Impartiality means that you don't intervene to put your thumb on the scales. Balance necessarily requires that you intervene to artificially make every issue look like a 50/50.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Moore rather gave the game away on Today just now when he mentioned climate change as one of the things on which the BBC should be impartial. Treating the truth and lies as though they are equal isn't impartiality, it's an abdication of the most basic journalistic responsibility

This is bull.
Steen has done no public service and had ample time to prepare a campaign if she was actually bothered.
Sheridan wasn't bothered to have documents right for LA meetings.
Who else came close to actually trying to get on the ballot?
Far-right twats who wanted the free publicity?

There are a lot of cowards in elite positions. There is a lot of courage in civil society. People aren't just taking career risks--though the spate of recent resignations and denunciations might rep. that--they're taking physical risks confronting ICE. They're organizing. Suing.
