Mostly here for the sports & local cville info. Scouting America and CatholicSky too. Home of #LaundrySky.
With all the jerseys his Holiness has received and now the beer, the Vatican's game-watching space is starting to come together.
Catholics believe in holy water. How about holy beer? Pope Leo received a special gift on Wednesday from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a four-pack of American mild ale from a Chicago brewery. For @reuters.com:

A Gus Burger from The White Spot after a night of drinking on The Corner. I couldn’t handle one at my age, but for years they went down easy.

In doing so, Stitt accepted the recommendation of the Pardon and Parole Board. This is Stitt’s second death-sentence commutation as governor.

A hazard of taking three boys (13, 11, & 9) to the @neildegrassetyson.com talk at JPJ last night: letting them sleep in and driving them to school instead of taking the bus. Dr. Tyson, can you write them a “doctor’s note” in case we’re late?

Yesterday was a great day to end the death penalty.
Today is a great day to end the death penalty.
Tomorrow will be a great day to end the death penalty.

End the death penalty.
Over no public dissents, #SCOTUS denies a stay of execution to Florida death-row inmate Bryan Jennings, who is scheduled to be killed by the state tomorrow.

I don’t often call @kaine.senate.gov, but I had to today. He abandoned his @scoutingamerica.bsky.social oath with yesterday’s vote. He’s not “help[ing] other people at all times,” he’s not being “mentally awake and morally straight” with this vote.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.

Nobody bothers me either! 😉

Not this crew’s finest hour. They’ll have plenty to review and work on.
Thanks. I understand delay of game is a point of emphasis this year, but it was completely misapplied in that instance.

I would love to hear the explanation for that delay of game call. Anyone watching the broadcast help a guy out?

Scouts will be out Saturday in many neighborhoods around Charlottesville collecting food for BRAFB. Message me if you want to participate but didn't get a flyer from your local Scouts.
Cash is awesome. If food makes sense for you, @scoutingamerica.bsky.social ‘s Scouting for Food is coming up in early November in greater Charlottesville and other localities around the country.
As other people have noted, if you have local food banks, now would be an excellent time to donate cash to them, if you have the cash to spare. We will be upping our donations to food banks and hunger-related charities here in Ohio.

I survived it, but the whole day was a struggle. I'm thankful for my village which I leaned on and continue to lean on to get me through.
We're coming up on the one year anniversary of my mom's passing. It's no wonder she's popping up in my dreams regularly now. Some days missing her hurts less than others. Today isn't one of those days.

SMU is selling signed pieces of goal post after beating Miami.

One of the best things Dr. Williams has done in her tenure is bringing Coach Ryan, Dawn Staley, and many other alumnae of the Women's Basketball program back to Grounds. virginiasports.com/news/2025/11...

Reader, it was ready, and it was glorious!
This should be ready in time for dinner. Depends on how long it takes in the stall.

I’ve seen this multiple times recently, where a car owner has placed both year stickers on the same (rear) license plate. I can’t figure out what the goal is here.

I know a lot of people are dropping Amaz*n Pr!me, but I've used it to set a regular snack donation to my kid's school. A 40-pack of individual pretzel snack bags that arrives without their or my thinking about it, just to make sure kids who need a snack have one.
