This is another semi-regular reminder that hot people mask (I mean, look at @malyndae.bsky.social 😍) because masking is love and resistance and anti-fascist. Masking is community care, and community care is radical in this age. Be hot. Wear a mask.
This is leadership and I would love it if more democrats knew that
So @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social said in a press conference this morning that he called Trump directly to tell him he opposed his actions in Venezuela and his opposition to regime change.

Agreed. Should the United States be the Unilateral World Police? If the answer is "no," this needs a better justification than "he's bad" or "his election was tainted."

(If the answer is "yes," then there's a huge list of far more dangerous leaders we are inexcusably leaving in power.)
People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

Despite what we are often told, this line from Mamdani’s inauguration speech is what true pragmatism actually looks like:

“Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously. We may not always succeed. But never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try.”

My New Year’s resolutions are to protect my health and my community’s health as best I can, love the people I love even harder, and be as big a pain in the ass as possible to the enemies of democracy and public health ✨

Never has there been a reply that better proved the point
lol. No it’s not. What’s a numpty ?
December 31, 2025 at 6:59 PM
This is just fucking Medicare for all you numpty
To each, the healthcare they need, from each , an amount they can afford to pay

Have taxpayers guarantee, at Medicare rates, any amount a patient can’t afford. Allow the patient to repay on a means tested basis. No insurance premiums. No copay’s or coinsurance.
Let’s cut to the chase. Say you’re not a billionaire. What’s the best way to afford healthcare in the US right now? What would you do?

Fun fact, you could still be living the not-getting-sick life going into 2026 if you started masking again. My immune system is super fucked but I haven’t been sick since 2019.
When we were wearing masks, I not only didn’t get COVID, I didn’t get sick at all for well over a year iirc.
“having to mask made me go fash” is so common and it’s just baffling

I mean, yes, it was annoying to wear one all the time? it also wasn’t that big a deal? if, today, someone asks me to put a mask on I go “ok” and put one on

and yet so many people treat it as a life-ruining imposition

I miss the days before covid, when in New York, in Times Square or a crowded subway, you would sometimes see people wearing masks and think, "Why are they wearing those? Oh, right--it's none of my fucking business." Let's get back to that.
Jon Stewart and the pod saves guys mocking people who wear masks while talking about What Is To Be Done is exactly what Jon Stewart and the pod saves guys are, it's the most Jon Stewart and pod saves guys thing possible.

Seeing so many “woke up sick” today posts. You guys. There are relatively inexpensive otc flu/covid combo tests you can get and have everyone take before meeting for Christmas. Why do you insist on doing this every year? You don’t get a lot of time off! Why spend it sick??

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

an artist's obligation is to speak truth--nothing more, nothing less. there are as many different ways to do that as there are artists in the world, but what the trump regime wants is not art, it's pageantry in service of the nationalist narrative.
"Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn't courageous or principled—they are selfish, intolerant, and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people"- Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma Daravi
Kennedy Center vows to sue musician who canceled performance over Trump name change
The Kennedy Center is planning legal action after jazz musician Chuck Redd canceled an annual holiday concert. Redd pulled out after President Trump's name appeared on the building.

I’m disabled & I mask to avoid dying or becoming further disabled, to protect my disabled mother, & to protect @malyndae.bsky.social & her son who has leukemia. All of us are at high risk of terrible outcomes if we get sick. Tell me, @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social, why that means I deserve mockery.
Dear Jon Stewart c/o @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social
I recently watched, with great surprise and disappointment, a weeklyshowpodcast segment in which you and other "personalities," gleefully mocked and derided the relatively small subset of individuals who continue to wear a face mask in public.

I’m not shy about why I mask in “shared air” and anyone who asks usually regrets it. My son was diagnosed with leukemia when he was five and just relapsed this year. He may need a bone marrow transplant eventually and I’m a prospective donor. Hilarious, right?
We need those who claim to be “left” to stop punching down on the disabled, covid cautious and immune compromised.

Masking is resistance.

It’s community care.

The ruling class wants you sick and weak so you won’t fight back.

Healthcare is being gutted.

There’s never been a better time to mask

If you’re sick & considering whether to attend a planned social event, I am begging you to just stay home. Don’t put the onus on someone else—that feels like shit. “I’m not feeling well, do you want me to not come?” is a terrible position to put someone in. Take that on yourself to make the decision

Say it, bestie.

One mild infection disabled me, derailing my career and severely impacting my health. I had to relearn how to swallow, I couldn’t walk to get my mail without passing out, and I couldn’t stand long enough to shower or cook or wash dishes.

Another infection? A death sentence.
Yeah, I’m trying not to die, not to kill my disabled mother, and not to kill my partner’s child who has leukemia and a severely compromised immune system. I think that makes me a human, not a zealot, but abled assholes have been punching down at disabled folks since time immemorial, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
