Incredible that Robbie Gibb - most influential person on BBC board by many accounts and from journalists I speak in BBC - was involved in setting up GB News.

GB News of course has breached Ofcom rules on *multiple* occasions - no sign of resignations though

A very good point.
If we're talking about bias, why do BBC politics programmes, from Politics Live to the Laura Kuennsberg Show, still always begin with a look at the newspaper front pages, which are overwhelmingly biased in one direction. Helps frame the entire news agenda and debate in their favour

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

#Low-Lowe really is living up to his name: "We need to create such a hostile and unwelcoming environment for illegal migrants that the vast majority deport themselves.” The famed British rep for fairness and humanity is being denuded daily by people with intolerance in their DNA.

Totally.👍
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey again: “Trump and his cronies have the BBC in their sights. Leaders can’t stay silent while one of our great institutions is attacked.

“We must defend its independence, end political appointments, and remove Robbie Gibb from the Board.”

Absolutely, right on! Hearing the rank hypocrisy of #Badenough and #Farage on the subject, complaining about a left-lean at the #BBC when most of the print media are right of Genghis Khan is sickening, tbh.
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Wow, but what is the alternative? - to be underhand and devious?! Your employees will vote with their feet if you do that. Organisations have to develop a trusting culture where psychological safety is a given: let your enemies have a go - they will find that your culture is your defence. #BBC
At an event where a speaker said: "The moment you are transparent with your trust and safety rules, you give a guidebook to your enemies on how to game them."

Which feels pretty much where the BBC has ended up! All this focus on being open and transparent just gives levers for opponents to pull.

Whilst it's clear that some in the #BBC have made errors of judgement, to claim that it has an agenda against the Right is absurd, when one considers the right-leaning politics of Robbie Gibb and others. Classic #authoritarian tactics to attack the MSM. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

Always remember that Tories/Reform wanted Brexit so that they could ignore rules that everyone else followed. A race to the bottom. Deregulation. A bonfire of *our* rights and protections. Exploitation and consumer risk so that the wealthy and the powerful could grab more wealth and more power.

Or do they want to compromise democracy on purpose?
