Hemmings and Borland look like real central MF contenders for the next few years, if Emery gives them enough gametime.

George Hemmings' debut, I think, will turn out to be the biggest positive of tonight, when you look back in the years to come.

Arse spent a net £263m in the summer.
Arteta's spent a net £900m in total.

Since Unai arrived, our net spend is €48m.
Arsenal have spent €463m in that time.

Hats off to a great winning run. Now let's start a new one.

In France, every available publicly-owned roof is being panelled, even bus stops & cycle sheds. Why? - 'cos panels are relatively cheap and France has a well-invested national grid and excellent sub-station networks. French electric bills went up by only 4% in 2022; cf the UK's sharp price hikes.

British golf courses cover ~125,600 hectares
If all existing and proposed UK solar farms were built, would cover 36,000ha
That would leave 72% UK courses taking the place of farming
(Or just keep them all, but only play 13 holes)
Of course >1/2 that solar could just be on rooftops

I had this very conversation yesterday with an acquaintance who believes the #UK is becoming an #Islamist state. When challenged, she - normally a sensible / intelligent person - got upset 'cos she believes immigration is out of control. Oh, and she's "not racist, just concerned".
I also find it interesting that the paper says that people overestimate the level of immigration by nearly a factor of 2, are much likely to be opposed to immigration in areas with the lowest levels & perceive the national 'problem' to be much greater than it is locally to them - make what you will

The question this raises is: who will do the actual work required to maintain living standards and get stuff done on a daily basis?! - cleansing the population has consequences ... it's all completely wrong; morally, economically and socially.
The blueprint for Farage's Grand Plan in Britain.

NHS no longer free, no workers' rights (and fewer human rights), snatch/deport/imprison "foreigners" like Trump is doing, and turn the country into a billionaires paradise of untaxed wealth and poor workers

Politicians are terrified of an electorate they think is far more authoritarian and angry and right wing than it actually is, because they are out of touch because the literal media - the thing that mediates between public and polity - is corrupted

In 2016 we allowed oligarch run media & Russian stooges convince us to vote to become the first country that imposes economic sanctions on itself, turn our back on our neighbours and run to other foreign powers who are rubbing their hands in delight as they see our negotiating position crumble.
Don’t know who needs to hear this but “taking back control” from a Union you’re a member of, with full voting rights, to hand it to an American lunatic you bent over backwards to flatter yet he publicly humiliates you, is not taking back control at all, it’s relinquishing it.

Ironically, the #UK were intrinsically involved in setting EU food standards, writing pollution regs, etc. We were fully-invested in the things that the #EU do, to our advantage. 'Taking back control' led to eschewing the things that helped us as citizens. Utter madness of Lewis Carroll proportions.

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
