This is a classic example of the need to reclaim the means of production.

Academic publishing should be a workers’ cooperative that pays all its contributors and re-invests any ‘profit’.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

As someone who had both types of measles as a child after being vaccinated because I have the kind of immune system that decided that the purpose of the MMR vaccine was to develop an allergic response to thimerosal, I really wish people with properly functioning immune systems would get vaccinated.

The really lolsob part is that some children in this region have been exposed twice, which means they’ve been in quarantine for a total of 42 days, and despite aggressive vaccination campaigns, their parents (in the great majority of cases) will not let them get vaccinated.

This is an *outstanding* blog post. Full of great information about visualizations. Definitely one I'll be going back to over and over (and over) again.
Big new blogpost!

My guide to data visualization, which includes a very long table of contents, tons of charts, and more.

An economist can correct me if I’m wrong, but as I understand it, the system as *designed* REQUIRES ~4-5% unemployment.

It then punishes those people for being unemployed, including a payment so low it actively hinders seeking employment.

Then blames them for being unemployed.

DARVO as policy.
