Should I do what Charlie Kirk wanted, and not give a damn about his death? Or should I care—thus rejecting and negating his whole disgusting shtick?

"The MAGA faithful fervently pray for mass arrests in which the guilty will at last be separated from the innocent—a kind of secular Rapture." It was fine for Trump and the rest as long as the base thought only Democrats were the guilty ones.
The MAGA Revolution Is Eating Its Own
After years of stoking conspiracy theories, Trump and his allies now find themselves unable to dispel one.

Fun (or not so fun) fact - the author of the “BBC bias” memo is a lobbyist for the American Pharmaceutical Group.

U.S. pharma companies recently threatened to abandon the UK unless the NHS pays more for its medicines.

They also donated millions to Trump’s campaign and inauguration

Absolutely disgusted to hear about the racism Wes Streeting mentions here directed at school children who were visiting Parliament.

He has taken the post down, rightly, to protect the children.

But it's wrong that he had to do it.

Disgusted with so many people in our country. Racism is never OK.

The BBC is ours. It's ours to love. Ours to criticise. Ours to shout at when we feel in the mood.

And if Farage thinks that the way to win favour with voters is to stand around cheering as Trump takes down the BBC for $1 billion of personal enrichment then he's a bigger fool than anyone thought.

A Reagan-appointed judge resigned in order to speak out.

Here's why: “President Donald Trump is using the law for partisan purposes, targeting his adversaries while sparing his friends and donors from investigation, prosecution, and possible punishment.” 🎁link:

I’m confused about this editing scandal at the BBC. They may have clipped his speech but he still tried to use a violent mob to illegally stop Biden’s certification

Just absolutely classic BBC. You've just broadcast the most successful programme of the year, uniting Gen Z kids online and Boomers on broadcast in a return to appointment television. And instead of celebrating, your DG reigns due to a made-up right-wing scandal.

Another very pertinent fact that I have not seen mentioned ANYWHERE: In 14 years of Tory rule we had 14 Prisons Ministers - six in a single year, at one point - and a total of 11 Justice Secretaries, including Grayling, Raab, and Truss. In 13 years of Labour it was three: Irvine, Falconer, Straw. 🤔

Just a thought:

LLMs are undermining the value of social media and search.

Renewables are eroding the value of fossil fuels.

Quantum will obliterate the value of crypto.

AGI may destroy the value of information itself.

Each round of innovation hacks away at its own foundations.

The new neighbours haven't had a chance to sort out their garden yet, so wildlife is having a field day, and so is Bongo the Bengal Cat. In the time it took me to make a coffee this morning, he exited, brought in a live rat, killed it, and ate it. All I needed to dispose of was a tail and a paw.

That WW2 veteran who says that winning the war "wasn't worth it" for the state we are now in is just plain wrong.

Naziism was an evil that caused the deaths of millions and the systematic murder of millions more. Defeating it was necessary.

We need to stop treating every old person as a holy sage.

Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Let’s keep this going!

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.

We made it easy at boycottspotify.com.

I've been thinking about why solo RPGing (which would, theoretically, be an amusing pastime) holds little appeal for me. Perhaps it's because what I enjoy most about TTRPGs is the dialogue—and you can't really do dynamic dialogue on your own!

Her husband was at Broadview one month and she was never able to talk to him. Not until he was already in Mexico. He had been in Chicago for 20 years. Her husband shared that the numbers of people there were astounding. It just makes me think how many people that are not counted/just disappeared.

4. Not only did most people, most of the time, enjoy almost no political freedom, but most also had very little economic freedom. They were forced to surrender much of their labour either directly (serfdom etc) or indirectly (tithes and taxes which delivered no benefits to them).

2. These regimes were sustained by terror: extreme punishments for slight infractions; spectacular acts of public cruelty; torture and killing of those considered “disloyal” to the lord/bishop/king/emperor/pope. Belief in many cases was rigidly controlled: dissent or “heresy” often meant death.
