Woah. It's one thing for Trump to ban journalists from White House press conferences; it's another for Downing Street to do his bidding on UK soil.
Shame on Downing Street for going along with this. So much for being committed to a free press

No notes. The OSA is a catastrophe.
The UK: we must reinvigorate our uncompetitive and slow growth economy!

Also the UK: time to censor the easiest general reference of archive of human knowledge, which is also free.
OSA is gonna make us lose access to fucking wikipedia

I did not realise that Oasis were playing Cardiff tonight when I booked the train ticket from Bristol. Never seen so many parkas before in my life. This will be quite the journey.

I hope that extends to all areas, not just health&safety. When it comes to EU rules for big tech, the RC has to be just as steadfast. Rates can be negotiated. Laws protecting democracy and values are non-negotiable.

Brutal night to be a Bristol City fan. Happy to at least be in the playoffs though after years of mid-table drudgery. Enormous wall to climb in the 2nd leg.

Whatever happens we need to actually invest this summer. Leanest squad in the Championship. We have the foundations, now need a few players.

3 entire hours of Ian Dunt. What a treat. Will be listening to this throughout the week, can only recommend everyone does the same.
This was great fun and very, very, very thorough
My interview with @iandunt.bsky.social on how the UK government got to be so bad.

It's not individuals but bad incentives and bad systems that make effective governance impossible.

We run through the UK's many institutional absurdities and how to fix them.

Absolutely all of this. Especially the discussion about the (lack of) mass transit in Bristol.
New personal post: Bristol should be a city of a million people.

On why the UK needs to expand its few already-successful cities, and Bristol should be high on that list. Probably higher than Ox-Cam…

Bristol should be a city of a million people
The UK doesn’t have many successful cities, and it doesn’t let its successful cities expand. That needs to change.

LLMs do nothing more than calculate statistics and probabilities. They don't "know" anything. It's more than a little concerning that the world's most-used search engine is blindly entrusting summaries of its search results to LLMs. This misinformation is harmless; other misinformation, however...
Someone on Threads noticed you can type any random sentence into Google, then add “meaning” afterwards, and you’ll get an AI explanation of a famous idiom or phrase you just made up. Here is mine

The US has seriously looked at the *checks notes* resounding success that was the UK's Rwanda scheme and thought 'We'll have some of that please.'

What an awful way to treat vulnerable people.
SCOOP — The US sent Iraqi refugee Omar Ameen to Rwanda via new diplomatic relationship in which they've agreed to act as a "third country" for deportees unable to be safely returned to their country of origin, per cables reviewed by me.

This is first reported instance. Cable indicates more to come.
US “relocates” Iraqi refugee to Rwanda via new diplomatic arrangement
A State Department cable indicates at least 10 more people will be subjected to the same.
