Just to clear up some confusion I've seen, the newly announced NCSoft Horizon MMO is different from the multiplayer Horizon game that's in development at Guerrilla Games. That one is Guerrilla's next big project

This thread provides actual knowledge for things that I had a vague gut feeling about -- and many things that never would have occurred to me -- about the more affordable Japanese PS5. But Japanese Gen Z playing 3DS more than PS5 illustrates how much of an uphill battle *Sony* faces at home.
It brought a younger audience who hadn’t looked at a PlayStation in over a decade back, but there lies the problem

It’s been true for a few years but was reaffirmed in the industry report this year, but young people do not care for PlayStation. At all

Gen Z (now almost 30), plays 3DS more than PS5

The irony that the best console experience could be coming from Valve and a Steam Machine in the next 5 years instead of PS or MS is wild!!! (you could count Nintendo on the interface and UI front but they still got Mario, Zelda, etc. exclusively)
The Steam Machine is absolutely a PC, but in its feature set you see Valve consolizing that experience at the same time that console offerings shift towards PC trappings too. I don't think this is a seismic 'moment'; just a beat in the continuing inevitable erosion of the line between console & PC.
Valve is shuffling towards the console space with a dinky cuboid Steam Machine. But what is it exactly? Here's everything we know www.eurogamer.net/steam-machin...

It's just gonna be one of those whiplash days on the timeline I guess. Video games are pretty good at least.

Happy 5th Anniversary to PlayStation 5!

PS5 is the 2nd fastest selling PlayStation device in US history (trailing only PS2) with 26.7M units sold through Oct 4th, 2025.

And here are the top 10 best-selling PS5 games ($), led by Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

This guy is really smart.
Context is everything.

Steam Machines originally launched into a space with poor support up against the relative strength of Windows.

The new one drops into a space occupied by the Steam Deck's strides in compatibility, Big Picture, and Windows flailing.

Absolute villains. I wonder at what point this could be considered aiding and abetting. Here comes the big spin if they even acknowledge the allegations at all:

I think it's important to remember that Sony's "10 year plan" in the past has meant 2-3 years of coexisting with the next generation hardware. We are likely well beyond "the middle"

Embark Studios used AI voices for The Finals and stated they don't want to make games without actors.

However, they've continued to use AI voices for Arc Raiders.

Here's my breakdown on how this is harmful for the industry and the general future.

Today the British union IWGB said it has filed formal legal claims against Rockstar Games for firing 30+ employees two weeks ago, as Bloomberg first reported. Rockstar said the employees were leaking information. The IWGB calls it union-busting. More to come as the legal process plays out...

We don't use Ai in our games. Ai isn't and hasn't ever been needed been needed to make a good game and CEOs like this don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

They just want to slowly take humans out of the process thinking they can just hit and button and it'll print money.

We don't use generative AI at either Minor Key Games or Question. Partly on principle, and partly because we're really good at what we do.
We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

Absolutely essential viewing from @chrisbratt.bsky.social on Rockstar’s sackings, which appear to be the single most flagrant example of union busting in the history of the videogames industry. Rockstar has provided absolutely zero evidence to support any of their claims. youtu.be/c9nOwjeznjI?...

Hard not to connect yesterday's Media Watch stuff to more games media job losses.

Sad fact: these fuckups are inevitable when there is no way for people to cover video games ethically and pay the rent.

We exist in an ecosystem built to sell us shit with zero oversight. It's all by design. Borked.
