I really think we need to have some mechanism in place for being able to say, in print and in the media, that a problem with a public figure is that they are insane. Not in a hyperbolic way. RFK Jr is a maniac.

This is happening in Toronto. Crime of many kinds is down but if you live in a place where CP24 is on constantly, you'd never know. So there's fear of the city in the suburbs, falsely, and you see certain politicians harping on this. More as next year's election approaches.
the issue is that producing stark declines in crime and public disorder is generally not reported on, but that any instance of violence is given sensational coverage, so that the perception is of growing crime even when american cities are safer than ever
