The reports that Trump may designate Antifa as a foreign terrorist group reminds me of Voltaire's dig at the Holy Roman Empire -- It was neither holy nor Roman nor an empire. Antifa is not foreign, is not terrorist, and is not a group.

The Minutemen understood that showing a President bombing Americans was not a good look for the President in question. Trump's superpower is indeed his shamelessness, but he's losing traction and just keeps on getting weirder. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDr2...

And beyond Hegseth's clear belief in white supremacy, he must also fear that black soldiers will be less willing to do Trump's dirty if and when push comes to shove.

Call me old-fashioned, but I ask you:

WHY do we let the tech industry do whatever the fuck it wants?

I, for one, don’t WANT the future Silicone Valley is shoving down our throats.

NO to strangers being able to dox me as I walk down the street.

NO to them being able to do it to my daughters.

Trump told the fossil fuel industry that if they fund his campaign, he'll do everything for them. Putting his funders above his voters, as the GOP always does.

I thought 2025 would see vigilante militias parading through mid-sized cities in Red states, intimidating Trump opponents. Like the Freikorps militias of Weimar Germany, which morphed into the Nazis. I didn't think it through enough. Trump actually deputized them, and they're now in blue cities.

For a taste of the potential for abuse, look at the Florida sugar industry's use of the special H-2 designation to mistreat immigrant workers. See Alec Wilkinson's book Big Sugar and Stephanie Black's amazing documentary H-2 Worker. 2 of 2

Trump's floating of a plan to tie immigrant workers to specific employers has rightly been denounced as a form of slavery, making the vulnerability of workers to abuse even greater than faced currently. 1 of 2

It has often been said that the US government is essentially an insurance company with an army, because most federal spending goes to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the military. Now it's a real estate developer with an army.
