Update: I stopped. I no longer have a blog.

Peaked early.
I started writing a blog post a few days ago. My New Year’s resolution is to stop.

I love how this person with a vested interest in selling AI solutions is acknowledging that AI writes shit code and, instead of improving it, we should just lower our standards.

This is how you get the 737 Max 8.
Can't wait for the loosened up, non-perfect, but quickly shipped AI-enhanced updates to hit my banking and insurance services next year.

Im sure there will be no issues there at all.

🐘 Oh, that's nice: Postgres 19 is going to ship read-your-writes for standbys when using asynchronous replication, via a new command WAIT FOR LSN (similar to WAIT_FOR_EXECUTED_GTID_SET in MySQL). Very cool!

"Obvious" if you've been around a while, but still needs broader awareness:

> New tech typically has more known unknowns, and many more unknown unknowns

> software that’s been around longer tends to need less care and feeding than software that just came out

Cloudflare is down...

I use UptimeRobot to monitor sites. UptimeRobot is also hosted on Cloudflare. It is VERY BROKEN right now.

DownDetector is another useful tool for checking site availability. Also hosted on Cloudflare.

DownForEveryoneOrJustMe... yep, hosted on Cloudflare.

With more and more open source projects switching to some sort of commercial licensing model with discounts for small business and community projects, the question keeps coming up: is a 100% discount the same as "free"?

So I made a video about it. What do you think?

Just learned that the German for software developer is Software-Entwickler.

Kind of want to start using "entwickle" as an English verb now. Along the same lines as verbs like "entangle," "enforce," or "enliven."

I entwickle, you entwickle, he/she entwickles...
