Meet the Virginia big-eared bat: a case study in strict environmental protections.

We hear a lot about bat tunnels and the supposed ‘negatives’ of environmental regulations but what about the success stories?

P.S. I also think we need a UK equivalent of ‘state bats’ 😂 @batconservation.bsky.social

Merry Christmas to all of you who fought so hard for nature this year! And to the grinch politicians who voted to weaken environmental protections? Expect a visit from a ghost who will show you a future without wildlife… we need your heart to grow a few sizes ASAP 💚🦎🦇

The stark contrast between Labour action on animal welfare - Stick: ban trail hunting. Stick: ban shooting hares with young. Stick: ban snares.

With their total inaction on wild species conservation. Reject all legislative proposals to strengthen protection of wild species. Dangle Carrots instead.

Labour keeping their manifesto promises on hunting and more broadly animal welfare.

Makes the fact they have abandoned commitments to nature all the more bizarre and frankly depressing.

Thangam Debbonaire spewed similar when voters kicked her out of public office and replaced her with better. She was raging that people didn't understand the political games she had to play. No. We just saw an arrogant MP who didn't give a shit for people. Starmer has a similar schtick.
The liberal press do the 'reject the evidence of you eyes and ears' thing but in a more subtle 'you're simply too stupid to see the moves at play' way.

It's half as effective and just lets everyone know you're an arrogant cunt.
If he isn’t and is instead an absolutely ludicrous calamity - see, for example, the faffing and pandering response to the horrendous far right shenanigans of the summer - then that would raise urgent questions about the judgement and reliability of the clowns who told the public he was great.

Hands of the habitats and species regulations Keir Starmer! This legislation protects our endangered species and habitats. We need to make it stronger not weaker.

There is a clear pattern of Steve Reed looking people in the eye and making promises that he completely bulldozed over months later.

Labour’s shift away from “immigration is good but it needs to be managed” to “it is bad” is a gift to essentially everyone they compete with, because it means that they don’t have the right position to be able to attack *anyone*.
I'm sorry, but these attacks are just not going to convince Green-curious voters, because Labour is so visibly out of step with those voters' core values
This by @umakumaran.bsky.social is good - and a example of exactly how Labour should be taking on the Greens; on values, direct and on Labour territory. Taking them seriously.

It's noticeable that the people who are now angriest with Keir Starmer's Labour government are those who voted for it. And they are right to be. This has been his primary achievement.
So where on earth does he think Labour voters will come from, next time round?
How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.
There's a vast amount of academic research showing this.
But Labour will not listen.

"We understand you may struggle with the basics of life without carers who have left the country or can no longer come here to work.

But it's simply more important to us, that we pander to reform voters, even though they are never going to be persuaded to vote Labour ever again. Sorry not sorry."
And that means Starmer as well as Mahmood.
Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.
