You can now rewatch our talk from #håckmas on designing the Rosenpass cryptographic protocol.

We introduce the principles behind how Rosenpass works, provide insights in state disruption attacks, and we explain how KEM-combiners such as X-Wing work!

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

I am thrilled to share that my ERC-PoC project has been selected for funding!

I am especially looking forward to collaborating with Rosenpass on this project, combining forces to push the boundaries of what’s possible in privacy-preserving technology.

I am grateful to the ERC for their support!

I am always happy to add new and interesting modes of marginalization to the list of reasons why I had an absolutely shit time at school.

If I ever have kids, I am finding someone surnamed Aarons. I will marry them and change my name to Aarons-Varner.
An analysis by University of Michigan researchers of more than 30 million grading records from U-M finds students with alphabetically lower-ranked names receive lower grades. This is due to sequential grading biases and the default order of students' submissions in Canvas. #AcademicSky #EduSky #Bias
Researchers find lower grades given to students with surnames that come later in alphabetical order
Knowing your ABCs is essential to academic success, but having a last name starting with A, B or C might also help make the grade.

Very efficiently provides post-quantum security AND classical security; i.e. it guards against potential cryptographic bugs in new, fancy post-quantum crypto.
