Made this after a trip where I found myself staring at stained glass in old churches for way too long. Not sure it’s finished, but I needed to let it go for now.

Open to thoughts, might revisit it later. It’s about the black hole that formed after two binary stars collided

My dream job is to collab with a marine biologist on a comic book 🐡🦑💥

A cirrate octopus has some differences: Flapjack octopus is pictured with fins, internal shell, and webbed arms labelled. An octopus can squeeze through any opening its beak fits in. Unlike most cephalopods, an octopus has no tentacles. However, its ancestors had a fifth pair of arms. Inside an Octopus Drawing of an octopus's internal anatomy, with the esophagus, beak, brain, ink sac, liver, stomach, gill, systemic heart (pumps blood to the body), and branchial heart (pumps blood to the gills, one on each side) all labelled. The brain only contains about 1/3 of an octopus's neurons. Moody of them are in the arms, which often move without input from the central brain. All octopi are born with ink sacs except cirrate octopi. Am octopus can evolve to fit its environment with a process called RNA editing. Most species evolve with random DNA mutations. RNA editing insta allows octopi to swap RNA bases without altering their genes.

Squid Parts of a squid are labeled: Mantle (covers organs), fin, gladius/pen (internal, chitin structure), arm, tentacles, eye, siphon (for moving with jet propulsion), beak, radula Squid have 8 arms and 2 tentacles. Arms are tapered and have suckers all along them. Tentacles are more elastic and only have suckers on their ends. Some species' suckers have rings of serrated teeth or hooks. Cephalopods are measured by their mantle length, because their limbs are muscular hydrostats. This means they expand and contract as needed and do not have a static length. If they take too big a bite, they risk damaging their brains. Cephalopod means "head-foot," a reference to the structure of these molluscs. Most cephalopods is the suckers in their arms to taste their environment to help determine what is or isn't prey.

Researching Von Willebrand's Disease is what got me interested in drawing educational comics

After the 3rd surgery, my lungs decided to take a break. I spent a few days hooked up to an oxygen tank, more or less unconscious. I received 2 blood transfusions to replace what I'd lost, and a hematologist determined that I have something called Von Willebrand's Disease. It's a genetic bleeding disorder. Basically, there's a clotting protein in our blood called the Von Willebrand Factor (vWF) that binds to Factor VIII and keeps it stable. When we are injured, vWF helps platelets stick together to stop the bleeding. But in someone with Von Willebrand Disease, vWF is either missing or misshapen. As a result, Factor VIII can't survive as long and the platelets don't stick together as well. From day to day, having this disease just means cuts and nosebleeds last a little longer than usual. I scar easily and I bleed when I brush my teeth- things that were pretty easy to take in stride until I had reason to suspect something was wrong.

Heart of the Forest 🍂 #art #myart #commissions
