Who knew Reform would be a disaster?!

The fact people still support them in such lemming numbers says rather a lot about the state of our education system.

Yes!

You and your Fresh Greens certainly give me hope, Zack.

This. Every word.
Active travel is not a competitor against public transport. Unless we make it so by failing to integrate the two. We also need secure cycle storage including e-bike charging at key and rural bus stops.
Public transport often treats bikes as a luxury—or worse a competitor—but without them leaves revenue on the table.

For 25 years, the Dutch have extended the reach of their railways through investments in (300,000) parking spaces and (25,000) shared bikes. The result? A doubling of train ridership.

I’ve done some tiling today. My back aches, my neck aches, my arms ache, my clothes are covered in drying adhesive.

I don’t like tiling. Tiling is hell. And it takes a long time before it looks nice.

30 sqm still to do….

Don’t tile. Pay someone who likes tiling to tile. That’s my advice.

This is *great*. The power of cycles and unclad humanity to defeat fascism and autocracy.

Fragile Fascists don’t like it, therefore do it.

Would you cycle naked… weekly, in the good, fun company of thousands, in public, in warm-enough weather, to defend your democracy?

Would you? I would.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson calls Sunday's naked bike ride in protest of the Portland ICE facility and and Trump troop deployment "the most threatening thing I’ve seen yet"

RoIreland is the place to be. In the wake of Brexit and now Heil Britannia, the Emerald nation speaks of gentleness, a warm welcome and genuine progression in the European Union. And their well-deserved, long-awaited good fortune is yielding dividends. As we fall, RoIreland rises like a phoenix.

The Embankment cycleway (CS3) in London was purposefully built to be wider than was usual in order to future proof it.

Some said it would hardly be used.

Now there’s a decent case for widening it further.

Induced demand is real.

Term time is about to begin! Lots of fresh faces, and many who have moved up an educational notch.

Lots of cars, too. 20% of traffic chaos in front of you is “doing the school run”.

Things could be so different. More kids cycling and walking to and from school in safety? Yes, it can happen!

Absolutely love this. What a thread, and what awesome people!

Climate heating isn’t invented. It’s studied by real people with an absolute passion and commitment to what they do. It’s time we acted on their advice and wise counsel.
If you’re a climate/energy person, I will take your portrait pro bono.
After far too many years, I've got myself a new Guardian byline pic, very kindly taken pro bono by Nick Bowring. It was getting like The Picture of Dorian Gray in reverse.

Democracy in action.

Meanwhile, families are being starved to death and otherwise killed in Gaza.

People - just like you and me and our families with nothing to eat, or randomly killed because apparently everyone in Palestine is a terrorist.

This mass murder is supported by our government.
An underestimate - more like 10 per arrest.

Seems bad:

"We identified more than 30,000 tire wear particles in 24 liters of stormwater runoff from roads and parking lots after two rainstorms. In heavy traffic areas, we believe the concentrations could be much higher."
One of the biggest microplastic pollution sources isn’t straws or grocery bags – it’s your tires
Rain storms wash those tire shards into streams and ultimately into lakes and oceans. That’s bad news for fish and other aquatic life.

The wonderful Netherlands. The world’s most advanced nation.
The blue-and-yellow OV-fiets receives a lot of attention as a tool for transportation, but is also an important tool for recreation.

Like enabling a spectacular Saturday rolling, splashing, drinking and dining through the streets of Amsterdam.

Weird how the fossil fuel industry claims it's renewables that are expensive.
My solar panels paid for themselves in 7 years (instead of the predicted 13) and our solar electricity is free now. And it runs our car.

The US is in serious danger of becoming a Nazi state. The horrific detention and chaining up of people MAGA don’t like - including Latino US citizens - is horrific but I fear just the very beginning of an escalating and disgusting campaign of racism, phobia and cruelty. This is only going one way.
