So far, there are 9 pages and right now we are just getting into the meat of it, setting up volume 1. So far I have been focusing on character development and easing readers into the setting.

Working on this comic has been really good for pushing my art skills and me helped pick up new tools and techniques. It's a mixed of traditional and digital. The hardest part has been the writing with my dyslexia but it's helped me grow my writing skills and made me doubt myself less. (2/3)

My comic is called The Aveniers.

It's about a polycule of 4 queer space explorers stumbling across an ancient alien space station. In their act of disabling it before it can fire at their home world, they gain superpowers and start to fight the remnants of colonialism on their world. (1/3)
Panel 1: Jet, Nadya, Jann, and Diane all look at the comms panel on the console of their spaceship Jet: So, shall we- Mission control: Avenier 1, this is Seabay control; do you copy? We have something urgent. Nadya: This is Avenier One. We hear you, Seabay! What’s the problem, Mike? Mike: We need you to investigate a Rymina station. We thought it was dead, but something’s going on. Dr. Lastid, you’re the best we have right now. Jann: This feels more like Dr. Del-Lex's field? She’s much more familiar with Ryminan tech. Why not send her? Diane: Jann... Panel 2: Mission Control where Mike, a frog man, is leaning against a wall while a worried Capybara and an Australian Shepard look at him. Mike: We are, but there’s some logistical holdups. This can’t wait – we’ve been picking up strange readings on the sensors, increasing rapidly – and you can make it there faster. Figure out what’s wrong, shut it down ASAP, and maintain your position; Dr. Del-Lex’s team should arrive in approximately 36 hours to relieve you. Shouldn’t be a problem for you four, I’m sure? Jann: So, a temporary patch job? Mike: Yep! We’re getting a linguist set up down here to translate the Ryminin, once you reach your destination. Do what you can with what you have, and give us your wishlist for parts and supplies; we can use the delay to better outfit Dr. Del-Lex’s ship. Jann: Can do! Mike: Nadya,keep the direct line open until we've solved this. Nadya: Confirmed. We’ll line up the trajectory and be there as fast as possible. Mike: Copy that, Avenier 1. Panel 3: Jet smooching Jann on the cheek. Jet: No doubting yourself, dork. Page 4 Panel 1: A space plane approaching large ancient cylindrical space station orbiting the first moon of Kelrenia, Lumi. Panel 2: The space plane continues it’s approach, a retrofitted module attached to the side of the station by the space program comes into view while the space plane opens it’s cargo bay doors. The module was designed to allow Kelrenian spaceships to dock with the ancient Rymina station. Panel 3: The space plane’s cargo bay doors are fully open, showing the plane’s docking port as it makes the final move to connect with the module. Caption: “...and an hour later, we docked.”

Even her tail, with its thick fin morphed into a mitt which is wrapped around a fifty gallon barrel, has a task to do in this portrait! Every single hand is holding an item or is performing a task from her many arms; Her upper most set carries a scientific vessel, her second set have their tasks split between being coiled around a narrow support pole four times over and holding a water bottle while her other limb in the set to task carrying various tools in a hand-morphed bag! The third set carries a cup of hot tea and a transparent data pad! Along her stretched out and arched blue fabric covered back rides a little brown bat sporting a pair of pince-nez glasses!

Earlier this year, we lost more than an Overseer. To some, it was a friend. Others, it was family. DVS7 was in memory of JNP-3R. Although it did not die to violence, the challenges it faced were the same as every transgender person today.

Jann: This seems like a military installation, I’ve seen a number on Kelrenia but never in this good of condition. Mike: That is our current guess, Dr Del-lex’s mission was going to go up in few months to figure it out. The engineers just finished installing the docking and hab module and have only done some minor scouting. Jann: We’ll need to find the command centre, we should be able to figure out what this brutalist machine does there. Thankfully the Rymina seemed to have pretty consistent layouts of military facilities. Jet: They sure put brutal into brutalism. Panel 2: Mike, an anthropomorphic lizard, and Asha, an anthropomorphic Aussie-Shepard, looking at a computer console. Mike: Our linguist will be set up in a moment, she’ll be up there with you in 36 hours but you have her on the comms for now. Asha: Avenier One, this is the linguist, do you copy? Panel 3: A shot looking at the Aveniers from behind with a sentry like warrior statue stand at attention a good 30 meters back. Nadya: We copy Asha: I’m Asha Jemison, I’ll be your translator. Nadya: Lovely, we are heading to the command centre now. Panel 4: A shot from above showing the four Aveniers floating their way down the hall. Asha: Once you get to the command centre, hook me up and we can get to figuring this place out. Jann: Wait, you’re one of Dr Dawson’s colleagues, correct? Asha: “Colleagues”, yeah. Jann: Good to know we're in good company, we’ll need to do our best to not get caught in the weeds of this station’s history until you can get here. Diane: And be prepared for how settling this place is, it ain’t feel right.
