Over the past couple of years I’ve been dealing with a hand injury that’s resurfaced in ways I didn’t quite expect. I wrote a bit about what that’s been like, and what it’s teaching me about limits, accommodation, and continuing anyway. #musicianshealth chrissteeleband.com/2026/01/06/l...

True in business, art, politics, and in life. Also has the benefit of making the world a little better and less lonely.
you can def network vertically, but prioritize networking horizontally

surround yourself with kind, hardworking, and talented friends, and it’s only a matter of time before your careers go places

also: if you can’t take an opportunity, pass it on to a friend who’d do just as well if not better
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.

Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

So @mbta.com, you close the green line at Kenmore, then shuttle us over to Back Bay and make us pay again to take the Orange line for the pleasure of a two transfer and 20 minute delayed ride? WTF?

This. Please pay for the art you enjoy. Otherwise? Well, then we cant art. C'mon people.

And I get the "Boycott Bezos" side of this, but you can't use that as an excuse to be a douche to authors.

Libraries, small bookstores, author websites.... Doesn't take much & the impact is important.
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

if there was a rich person with the will, you could build the most incredible news organization that has ever existed just from the wreckage of this year alone.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Today marks 10 yrs since I launched an attempt to recapture what I was as a teen: writing songs, playing shows, touring (-ish), recording, and occasionally rambling into the void.

A decade of trying to say something real, awkward, hopeful, messy through music.

Want to see how far right the Republican Party has gone?

Watch George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan answer a question about illegal immigration during a 1980 debate.

They wouldn’t even be allowed in today’s Republican Party.

It’s important for us to speak directly to Americans looking to build home or renovate. How much this work costs is going up – because Donald Trump has slapped additional tariffs on top of already unfair softwood duties. We didn’t do it, so we shouldn’t wear it.

The Muppets’ Hunt for Red October. I have spoken.
1) every year we all get to vote on which classic story gets made into a muppet movie

2) every year you guys make that muppet movie

3) we will ALL go see every one of these

4) you will never not profit from this

5) why are we not doing things this way
