Having now watched the footage and interview two of the members who were there, the amount of armed, masked federal agents surrounding three members of Congress and a mayor outside the ICE facility was totally unnecessary; the only possible reason for it was intentional escalation and intimidation.

Whether you believe Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah, a prophet, a philosopher, or just a proto-Reform rabbi, there's one thing for which there's consensus within academic history scholarship: that he died by crucifixion for challenging the authority of the government.

Worth thinking about today.

The fact that they’re going after tiny Americorps programs with 7 figure budgets is piece of evidence 76396 that this was never about budget deficits but just about doing whatever owns the libs, and I guess 18 year olds doing volunteer river conservation work is Woke or something

This is an affordable and high impact program, only reason to cancel it is spite
Hearing the same from a direct source. People in Americorps being told they're done. It's over. No notice.
My bff’s son works for Americorps and received a decommissioning letter today. DOGE is gutting the program. I’m so angry and disappointed DOGE would go after a program that does such good work. @marisakabas.bsky.social @kairyssdal.bsky.social @katiephang.bsky.social

funniest thing 1a is that his staff has had to field Qs about this SO MANY TIMES that they will get mad enough to give you *on the record* quotes saying things like STOP SAYING THE SENATOR IS CURSED so definitely have fun asking them about that all week
I think the funniest thing about the Ted Cruz Curse is he really won’t confine it to just a couple of teams; if you are a Texas school and you have a big game, there is a decent chance Ted is rolling in wearing your polo and bringing your doom with him

FDR once bragged to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that the richest people in the nation hated him and “I welcome their hatred.”

Just weeks later, he was re-elected with 61% of the vote in a 523-8 blowout in the Electoral College.

Voters *like* politicians who make the right enemies.
The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

He said not yet but wants to try carrying tires.
