If only Fox News or GB News were held to even 100th of the standard that the BBC is expected to operate.
Nandy needs to offer full throated support for the organisation. I fear she won't.

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.

Why is Reeves still flying kites on capping ISA allowances when they are so popular? Feels like the Henry Ford dictum that you can have any colour for the Model T as long as it's black. Saying folk need to take greater risks on shares/stocks shows how Labour are failing to listen to the populace.

Darren Jones with some gaslight here. Labour are banking on people being none the wiser to the state of the country. Labour are assuming that people aren’t media literate, have no critical thinking skills and can’t see the red flags.

The answer? Green flags ✅❇️💚

Wasnt Darren Jones the bloke who described PIP as "pocket money". He's an out of touch blue Labour apparatchik. Easily ignored.

All the pearl-clutching about Zohran Mamdani--by right-wingers who elected a half-senile old TV star president--is very amusing. For once the shoe is on the other foot.

We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.

A new generation that renews the “we” in “we the people.”

Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as part of its future.

2/2 As regards reducing energy bills the govt 'regulator' just:
1) Allowed an increase in price per unit in bills this Autumn to a new higher average for variable tariffs.
2) Allowed an increase in standing charges due in part to 'government scheme costs'.
We are being 'had' by Labour on this.

VAT is a regressive tax falling disproportionate on lower income deciles. Moreover-this will not likely enhance growth? Am hoping the Chancellor does not do this. Crikey.

We’ve outgrown our two-party system, writes Stephen McNair.

The UK now has five or six major parties, yet still clings to a voting system built for two.

The Dutch elections this week prove there’s another way: fairer, calmer, more democratic.
How to tame the populists: lessons from the Netherlands
Recent elections in the Netherlands show how a proportional voting system can prevent extremists from taking power. Lessons for the UK?
