cops and feds can take your phone and touch your finger with it, but they can't magically make you remember a password you forgot.

idk about apple but in android you can even leave app verification on for -example- banking app but wont unlock your phone.
Courts should treat biometric locks as equivalent to password protection, EFF’s Andrew Crocker told @TheIntercept.com. “Your constitutional right against self-incrimination should not be dependent on technical convenience or lack thereof.”

ok got pics of the boxes that went up, can anyone ID? Appears to be a PTZ camera globe behind the tint window, maybe a Condor? The tint to hide the fact that it follows? There was a bright green LED on them at night, similar to the Flock traffic cameras, which the city def has.

As daily goals, "stop fascism," "defeat evil," and "save the world" probably aren't going to get you anywhere, and might leave you feeling overwhelmed and helpless, but "work towards building something good" is always achievable, concrete, and useful.

in less depressing news, I've been updating my cube list. It's more or less been the 2013 modo holiday cube plus ~20 cards per color and about 40 gold cards since I built it, so its in big need of updates. You can follow it here if you care to i guess cubecobra.com/cube/overvie...

Ring (Amazon) announcing partnership with Flock to incorporate all their cameras into the Flock tracking network, followed by 3 weeks later announcing facial recognition features isn't lost on me either.

please please talk to your families about this stuff and why it's bad.

We've almost all had a situation where we perceived something differently than how it actually went down, and how difficult it is to come to terms with that. What happens when the basic facts of day to day life start to fragment in that way based on what you see?

The thesis of '1984'is " The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

When the Party is the one showing you the evidence, they don't need to ask you to ignore anything.

pretty good piece here. A lot of people starting to make noise about how many media outlets parrot talking points when it comes to tech, rather than skepticism and challenging claims. (Those voices are far from new, just getting more numerous and louder :D)
How big tech is creating its own friendly media bubble to ‘win the narrative battle online’

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.
