No one who matters will give Dems “credit” for this in a way that will be meaningful at the ballot box.

No one who was affected by the shutdown is grateful that there will be a failed vote to extend the subsidies. 3/
The US has stopped doing counterterrorism because all federal law enforcement has been working on arresting people showing up to court dates and redacting the Epstein Files to protect Trump

My core premise: everything you need to know about Trump -- his psychology, his likely behavior -- you can glean from watching him talk for, oh, 30 seconds or so. ANY 30 seconds will do. Pick 30 seconds at random.

“Unitary executive theory” is a twenty-first century version of Hobbes’ Leviathan. It’s the theory of government power that the framers (and anyone in the 17th-18th century who believed in representative government in contrast to absolutism) rejected. It is not in the Constitution, period

This is an underrated problem with a lot of conservative jurisprudence that shows why so much of it is wrong. You can easily imagine changes to the Constitution to have it say what conservatives want it to say, but you can’t do that the other way because it already says what liberals say it does
How the hell could you run on restoring birthright citizenship given that it’s already been amended into the Constitution as clear as fuck?
Supreme Court will consider constitutionality of Trump's restrictions on birthright citizenship

The Nuzzi book is grasping at all the ways people evade accountability in society today, but it’s done in such an embarrassingly transparent and half-assed way.

Ironically, the whole thing plays as extremely un-savvy

I think Lizza sucks, but I think his holding back the Nuzzi scandals so he could torpedo her comeback is much more justified than other times journalists held stuff back. NYT sat on warrantless wiretapping and Vance vetting to, at best, avoid GOP whining. Haberman and Woodward (like 50 times) 1/

Admin wants to invade Venezuela because they’ve concluded that war helps incumbents win reelection and sideline dissent.

I think the ambiguity relates to timing. Too early and the election is in the messier insurgency or postwar chaos phase. And maybe it’s a question of whether to wait for 2028
