“The public are being told by reporters that climate scientists are warning that we must stop burning fossil fuels, but those who still buy print newspapers are bombarded with adverts suggesting everyone else is enjoying long haul flights and luxury cruises,”
buff.ly/e8P7BEE UK newspapers devoted more than triple the column inches to advertising high-carbon products like cruises, SUVs and flights than they did to covering last year's global climate negotiations , according to a study by the New Weather Institute.
UK Newspapers Publish More Ads for Polluting Products Than Climate Coverage
Space devoted to promoting flights, cruises, SUVs, and the oil industry dwarfed the column inches given to last year's U.N. climate summit, study finds.

Laws bent for the rich.

Wages taxed at marginal rates of 20% – 45% plus national insurance contributions (NIC).

Capital gains taxed at 18% to 32%, no NIC .

Dividends taxed at 8.75% to 39.35%, no NIC.

Return on wealth must not be taxed at lower rates.
Nothing will change until the political system is freed from the clutches of corporations and the super-rich
The law is being used to enforce existing power structures for the benefit of the few

Just to be clear, this data suggests that the UK economy is up to £220bn per year per year smaller because of Brexit

And that means UK tax revenues are ~£88bn less than they would have been

So the Labour govt would obviously be working to undo that damage, right?

Right!?
I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)

People fleeing war and persecution are ready and able to contribute to our society.

The problem is... they're not allowed.

Rather than shipping them off to army barracks all over the country, it's time to let asylum seekers work.

Under Nicola Sturgeon & Humza Yousaf the Scottish Government rightly opposed the proposed Rosebank oil field.

John Swinney has sadly dropped that opposition and tried to avoid taking a position at all.

That's not good enough, so tomorrow the @scottishgreens.org will force a vote.

The UK is still one of the richest countries in the world.
This Labour government’s tolerance of poverty is a disgrace.
They deserve to be replaced.
Poverty affects almost a third of children in the UK.

Labour could choose to lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty immediately by fully scrapping the two-child benefit cap.

Remember: child poverty is a political choice.
