The double-edged sword: hope. When Pandora released Zeus's miseries upon the world, she slammed the lid shut before hope could escape. Does hope keep us striving for what could be? Or does a trapped hope signify that we will never achieve relief? Is hope a trick perpetuated by Zeus himself?
A year ago, I was concerned that we would be in a much worse place by now. We all face more challenges to come. But be hopeful. I am.

Glad to hear that you never started! I remember going to the county fairs and they handed cigarettes out 2 to a pack for free. My mom used to make me as a kid go and stand in line for them. I mean probably 7 or 8 y.o.

I hear you. But one thing about addiction...the killing part oftentimes is over a long period of time so it is not immediately noticeable. Some drugs though have an immediate deadly effect.

It is purposely a physical addition. But I only "smoked" my mother's second-hand smoke. I definitely enjoy the sensation that I get when I smell someone lighting up. All the best for 2026.

My mother died in 1971. She smoked Salem. I was 14 and carried a lot of anger in me for more years than I care to admit; blaming her. I can't remember a time when she didn't have a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. I never smoked but when I smell it, I get a rush like an addict does.

According to the 2024 Annual Business Survey there were 36.4M business owners in the US but only 5.9M actually had employees (2023) but 30.5M had no employees. With over 300M people in the US does that mean 12% of the population will be pleased but 88% won't? And don't forget billionaires!
