🗣️ The street vending system in NYC is broken.
Together, our amended bill, ⭐Int. 431-A⭐, is what NYC needs to regulate street vending the right way: fairly, consistently and with respect.

Opinion: Fixing NYC’s street vending chaos is a moral obligation – and a simple one
A newly amended City Council bill will create a regulatory system that balances incentives with enforcement and builds dignity for street vendors.

Caught up with PS 321’s brilliant 1st graders who are learning all about their community! They had so many questions about what a City Council Member actually does — and even more about flooding. Future civic leaders in the making!

Big news — the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music is expanding! Twice as many students. Twice as many therapy clients. Twice as many musicians finding their sound. Proud to support BKCM Prospect Park West and to have invested in this next chapter for Brooklyn’s music community.

@vanalen.bsky.social's Fall Fest was such a joy! One of the art projects invited neighbors to draw what makes Gowanus memorable for them, part of a “neighborhood yearbook” that will be archived for years to come. For me, it’s our new office, a true mainstay space for neighbors near and far.

Monthly meetings with the Gowanus Houses Tenant Association keep us aligned on what to push for from NYCHA. The Gowanus Houses Community Center is finally opening — a milestone that's years in the making. So much is possible when elected and neighborhood leaders work together!

I'm excited about this vision for 5th Avenue! As I told @nyc.streetsblog.org: It shows that the community is deeply concerned about safety. And that the small business community recognizes that safer streets bring more people to shop, dine, and hang out. Plus it prioritizes buses!
"Pedestrian safety is crucial, but there are other issues, too, like the triple-parking, the congestion, the poor bus movement, the narrow sidewalks, the lack of loading zones, etc," said the executive director of the Fifth Avenue BID. "And this plan addresses that."
