I joined the Carroll Gardens Association to launch their Raise the Rates pilot in our 39th District, a campaign to set a fair minimum wage for nannies at $30/hour. Right now, no minimum wage exists for this essential workforce. Nannies are organizing, and together we’re fighting for $30.

Caught up with PS 321’s brilliant 1st graders who are learning all about their community! They had so many questions about what a City Council Member actually does — and even more about flooding. Future civic leaders in the making!

Big news — the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music is expanding! Twice as many students. Twice as many therapy clients. Twice as many musicians finding their sound. Proud to support BKCM Prospect Park West and to have invested in this next chapter for Brooklyn’s music community.

@vanalen.bsky.social's Fall Fest was such a joy! One of the art projects invited neighbors to draw what makes Gowanus memorable for them, part of a “neighborhood yearbook” that will be archived for years to come. For me, it’s our new office, a true mainstay space for neighbors near and far.
