Hey all 👋! I'm a full-stack dev responsible for an open-source ecosystem of gamified web applications here at UCF 🎮. I also mentor a cohort of junior student devs as part of our in-house "Techrangers" program. I do everything from accessibility to front-end to devops.

Two weeks ago I made the plunge on a gently used EV. Now I'm that guy who won't shut up about how awesome EVs are (sorry.) Especially coming from a series of manual transmission cars, it truly feels like driving a spaceship.

End of an era. I really think this is for the best, despite having many wonderful memories of visiting as a kid 20+ years ago.
The Miami Seaquarium is closing Sunday after 70 years, beset in recent decades by complaints of animal mistreatment and unsafe conditions.
The Miami Seaquarium was once beloved. It’s shutting down after accusations of neglect.
A Miami developer agreed to pay $22.5 million to take over the lease of the Seaquarium.

I've used twitter via the web app on firefox mobile since they shut down 3rd party apps prior to elonification. Since then, it is shocking how much power it drains even just scrolling the timeline for several minutes. At some point I need to plug in dev tools and investigate.

Anecdotal: On occasions where I still visit the other site, it's through the web app on mobile safari with ublock origin. Doing so incurs a massive drain on battery performance, in a way I can only assume the native android or iOS apps avoid. Suppose that's the price paid for modest privacy.

Today I learned some of the most formative influences on my childhood - MSB, Reading Rainbow, Bill Nye - were all due to NSF funding.
I was today years old when I learned that the Magic Schoolbus was an NSF-funded project.
