I'm enough of a history nerd to know that our Founding Father's would be calling for the execution of Donald Trump...and most of them would have been happy to do it themselves.

We should be ready for Trump to be totally on the Epstein files and republicans to largely say “so what?”
So my question is how do we establish (or reestablish) sufficient social shame that no one would make this argument in public for fear of their reputation?
Oh, it's gonna happen.

No one can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like Democratic leadership. Count on it.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

One can only hope
Trump: "What the Democrats will do is make Puerto Rico a state, make DC a state, they're gonna pack the Court. They're gonna end up with more electoral votes. They're gonna end up with 4 senators. And they're gonna do this 100%."

Also just so nice to see someone say “go cities! Cities rule!”
i guess whatever ends up happening i very much appreciate the way that so much of what comes out of this campaign offers a positive depiction of what politics can offer to a community instead of just grim attack stuff and fear
Six days left and a whole lotta doors to knock.

i do think vance is mostly just regurgitating the half remembered ideas of dead slaveholder extremists but also this gives off the unmistakable scent of “i’ll say whatever you hogs want me to say,” which is fitting coming from america’s premier hogman
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do

I’ve been thinking about how hard the founding fathers cooked with the Third Amendment.

Imagine being forced to house ICE. I can’t imagine they wash their hands. They’ve never done laundry in their lives. They’d break your stuff if you didn’t cut the crusts off their sandwiches.

I just think we have to remember a time when this would have ended a press secretary’s career or at least been a scandal for a week
Leavitt: "At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority."

They hanged him for a traitor they themselves the traitor crew, but his soul goes marching on
If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry began on this day in 1859.

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

The president said, in a televised speech, that he's sending his new, less restrained, more violent military into US cities to practice their brutality on immigrants and minorities, to better train them to apply that brutality to other countries.

He said this out loud.

Nothing suggests more strongly that most political coverage is theatre criticism than how Biden's decline, which mostly affected his delivery and not his ability to understand what he was saying, was covered harshly, but Trump's descent into somewhat competently delivered nonsense is shrugged at.
Trump to generals: "We have beautiful paper, the gorgeous paper. I said, 'throw a little more gold on it, they deserve it. I want the A paper not the D paper.' We used to sign a piece of garbage ... I want to use the big beautiful firm paper."

some thoughts on Newsom:

1. the reason I am desperate for Literally Anyone Else to be the standard bearer is specifically his stance on trans rights - he's been bad on other issues, like homelessness, but I really worry he'll lead the Dems towards Labour if he's the guy in charge
