A lovely read, thought of specific people for every blessing here ❤️

I’ve got one of these: “The child who, after difficulty and struggle and poor behaviour, gets back on track.” He is a blessing. In fact I was telling my husband and friend about him just today, how he always helps me with the books and is a model student in class 🙏🏼

Yes -- "all which we behold / Is full of blessings", as Wordsworth writes in "Tintern Abbey". Cultivating them is a matter of practice; seeing them is a matter of perspective.

Great post -- thank you

“Schools are brimming with blessings”

Yes to this! Deliberately making the effort to notice them, no matter how small, is where we find the joy 🥰

Those were both pretty heavy long reads so I finish with some light relief. @clairestoneman.bsky.social recalls some of the more nonsensical things she was encouraged to do at the outset of her teaching career!

I had lots of fun at #rEDCam25 on Saturday. What was super lovely (and unexpected!) was some delegates tell me how much they like my writing because I tackle thorny edu issues very respectfully, and support teacher voices. It meant a lot. Thank you 🙏

THIS SATURDAY 🙌 Excited to debut a talk on the problem of luxury beliefs in education. Come along if you’d like to hear me get pretty cross about their potential impact on our kids #rEDCam25

Hey Bluesky! 👋

Here’s a re-hash of an old post as I prepare for #rEDCam25 on Saturday. There’s glitter, pipe cleaners and sugar paper aplenty :)

😂
Charles Dickens wrote some of the best paragraphs ever written, and these occur randomly across thousands of pages of impenetrable boring guff.

This is pretty niche but I enjoyed writing it :) It’s on three things I’m really interested in:

1. Attention
2. Pre-Reformation graffiti
3. How the annoying it is that the working class continue to be patronised

Love this by @clairestoneman.bsky.social

It doesn’t feel like we are making progress.

Success in the arts isn’t always equitable or a career path open to all.

Some gate keepers of arts appreciation and culture seem to have a condescending view of what certain people can bring to the table.

Excellent as always from Claire. This time, amongst other amazing things, nailing it on how art can patronise when it makes assumptions 👌

As we edge towards a new academic year, is leading behaviour in schools an intellectual challenge? Yes, I think it is.

Is leading behaviour in schools an intellectual challenge?
I think there’s an easy answer to this question if perhaps you’ve never led behaviour in a school and if you read too much into what people write and post on social media.
