Hey that's me! Happy to talk about city magazines as a sector (from LA Mag on down, they're all shrinking) and what's next for the newly nonprofit Philly Mag.
“My initial joke was that I’m not sure how a nonprofit is going to rate the best plastic surgeons on the Main Line,” Chris Krewson said, “but we’re about to find out.”https://share.inquirer.com/iGntGE
Philadelphia Magazine has new owners. But does Philly still want a glossy city mag?
After Philadelphia Magazine was sold to The Philadelphia Citizen, questions remain about whether the 117-year-old publication can reinvent itself for a new era.

RIP, Rick. We lost a living piece of journalism history; he was the nephew of Hedley Donovan, a pretty key player at Time Inc and a big part of David Halberstam's magesterial The Powers That Be, and the assistant to Scotty Reston, similarly a key figure in that book. www.poynter.org/business-wor...

The last part of @joshuabenton.com's Nieman piece on Alden losing out on the Dallas Morning News -- the dual class stock structure some family-run newspapers employed -- is part of why today's local newspaper landscape is so apocalyptic. www.niemanlab.org/2025/09/dall... 1/

It's wild, delicious, and utterly predictable for the original compilers of unprotected facts to bring a lawsuit against the next generation. Encyclopedias were "stealing" facts and ideas from other people's books back when we still called it "research."
