I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

Putin puppet Chump is weakening the United States by breaking our bonds with our longstanding allies.

The goal is to destroy NATO. But that won’t happen.

NATO will stand strong against the United States, which will plummet into the abyss that Putin created.

Now, onto the juicy bit. I am going to drill down on one small bit of the author's analysis because I have specific insight to show how little he knows. If I dug into other bits (who has the time, and inclination though?) I'm sure a similar pattern would show up. So let's look at this claim:

In case there were ever any doubt: a government hiring heavily armed masked thugs that are granted immunity from prosecution and given a quota of people to kidnap is not a stellar idea overall.
The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

Well… Venezuela’s opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Headlines in the news read ”This will hit Latin America like a political bomb.” A few months later, Trump bombs Venezuela and abducts its president.
I’m curious to see who gets the Peace Prize next year.

Humans have emitted 2750 gigatons of CO2 since the industrial revolution from burning fossil fuels and land use change. To put this in perspective, this is more than the (dry) mass of all living things on earth and everything humans have ever built combined:

This is absurd. And tragic for the innocent people hurt and killed. The US is running amok. The EU needs to step up and decouple from the US regarding economical and social media infrastructure.
Caracas is under fire. Multiple U.S. strikes have hit key military sites: Fuerte Tiuna, La Carlota airbase, and a communications center in El Hatillo. Explosions echo through the capital, the power is out in parts of the city, and U.S. helicopters are flying low. Fires also rage near La Guaira.

A total of 130 books read this year, wherof 109 written by women, all in english.
I should probably read some in my native tongue this year. The TBR-pile is 247 books… 😁

The US is literally threatening the EU. Says we can’t have nuclear weapons unless in far-right countries. People they don’t like are threatened with frozen bank accounts, revoked credit cards, blocked services from Amazon, Google, Microsoft and OpenAI.
We need to realize Russia isn’t the only foe.
The outrageous sanctioning of EU lawmakers and citizens in order to pressure democratically-elected European governments to change their laws shows just how intent the US government is on controlling Europeans' lives.

We must go into 2026 with eyes open.
The US can destroy a European's life with the swipe of a pen
This week's US sanctions against European lawmakers and privacy activists is a major escalation. And it shows the dangers of Europe relying on American economic infrastructure.

Checks out. The evidence is compelling.
a lot of people don't realize that Christmas carols and traditions are actually folk memories of suppressed pre-Christian events, namely the end of the Third Age and the Fall of Sauron.

Genuine question:

Other than the most obvious of answers — myopic car company shareholders printing another quarter's worth of profits off the old tech — who actually *thinks* they are benefiting off delaying the EU gas guzzler phaseout?

American Republicans are worse than the Taliban. The former destroyed irreplaceable works of art; the latter destroys scientific infrastructure that humanity urgently needs. In both cases driven by a hatred of civilization and progress.
An absolute bedrock institution for understanding how the planet works, just civilization-scaled vandalism by the most incurious morons on Earth
