My wife of 29 years, bookbinder and book artist Jana Pullman, passed away in February after a long illness. She’s gotten some great memorials, including a posthumous award and a binding in a new exhibit at MN History Center. Here’s her take on that work: aboutthebinding.blogspot.com/2012/08/open...

People are often invited into unlearning by love in the expansive sense. @lewispants.bsky.social noticed that what created the conditions for unlearning was, in part, or sometimes almost entirely about relationships. @prismreports.org

Look, if all you did yesterday was survive, that's fucking something. They want us dead. Continuing to breathe is fucking doing something. If you survived AND did anything to increase your odds of surviving tomorrow, you're doing fucking awesome. Reshare some folks' fundraisers. Keep yourself alive.

I think there has been a misunderstanding of why I use Bluesky. I am here to read about what academics & intellectuals are doing, including finding new books, to connect with my friends who have left other platforms, and to see @gonzo.bsky.social behavior reports. No interest in dating anyone, ever.

A potentially historic example of how manufacturing misinformation about universities is a reliable path to power and influence right now—and why that animus against universities is a symptom of broader threats to vital systems of public information + collective senses of fact, truth, and meaning.

One of the many social plagues of our time is the decline in literacy. I don't just mean people's ability to read, but that so few read good literature anymore, even in schools. The study of literature helped create a shared moral reality. We could sure use some of that now.
