I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

Border Patrol agents are very sad that everyone in Minnesota hates them.

DHS: Today, Border Patrol agents who were in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area as part of a targeted enforcement operation were repeatedly harassed and blocked by hostile crowds while simply trying to take bathroom breaks. At each gas station where the agents stopped to use the restroom, groups of agitators appeared, yelled at them, stalked them, and even tried to prevent law enforcement vehicles from leaving, creating unsafe conditions. At one stop, individuals in the crowd threw food at the agents. At their final gas station stop, someone spit on an agent. When an agent moved to detain the person who spit on him, the crowed tackled and attacked the agents while surrounding them. 70% of all Harris voters in 2024 and 65% of all self identified Democrats believe Israel has committed genocide

60% of Democrats believe Israel kills children intentionally and whopping 77% overall have a negative view of Israel.
But the reality is that the trend line against Israel's public image isn't likely to reverse in any dramatic way. An Economist/YouGov poll from August found that 45 percent of the public believe Israel is committing genocide, and that 65 percent of all Democrats believe that there is a genocide. Seven in 10 Harris voters in 2024 believe that Israel has committed genocide. A whopping 54 percent of all Americans aged 18-29 believe that Israel has committed genocide. A Pew Research poll earlier this month found that 59 percent of all Americans view the Israeli state negatively. Among Democrats, that number increases to a whopping 77 percent. A New York Times/Siena Poll from September found that 40 percent of all Americans, and 60 percent of Democrats, believe that Israel has murdered children intentionally. And according to a Pew poll from earlier in the year, negative Democratic perceptions of Israel have risen across every age demographic, with 71 percent of Democrats aged 18-49 having a negative view of Israel in 2025, and 66 percent of Democrats over 50.

Saw a lot of headlines saying "wikipedia is embracing ai" being tossed around tabloids, and I'm pretty sure they were maliciously written to make you feel a certain way about Wikipedia. What's actually happening is that wikipedia is demanding payment for data scraping and the corpos don't like that.

Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.
