The Target boycott that AFT joined on Labor Day is seeing success. This holiday season, we're doubling down to demonstrate organized labor's economic power, as well as the consequences of ignoring the will of workers and the good of working families.

The Trump administration's assault on Palestine activism may seem unprecedented, but the parallels to the post-9/11 "War on Terror" are chillingly familiar. However, this attempt to quash dissent will fail, because you cannot deport a movement.

Many thanks to @annabower.bsky.social for this thread. As it makes clear, government's strategy for dealing with the order to facilitate the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia is to send Drew Ensign into court without telling him what's going on.

A few questions this raises:
HAPPENING NOW: Following the Supreme Court's decision requiring the government to "facilitate" the release of Abrego Garcia, a hearing before Judge Paula Xinis is about to begin.

Welp, I guess the bare-bones letter from Rubio was determined to be “facially reasonable and bona fide.”

Note that this was largely expected; the standard is exceptionally deferential. This decision will be appealable up to the Board of Immigration Appeals, and then again to the circuit courts.

Think of the proud lineage of protests against US-backed wars, coups, torture...

BREAKING: Mahmoud Khalil Can Be Deported, Immigration Judge Rules
The judge said the Trump administration’s evidence – a two-page letter from Secretary of State Marco Rubio – is sufficient to deport Khalil under an obscure legal provision.

Disabled advocates have been warning for years that if people didn’t help normalize masking, bans would follow

Please call legislators in New York and tell them No mask bans!

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.
