The Forgotten History of the World's First Trans Clinic
The Institute for Sexual Research in Berlin would be a century old if it hadn’t fallen victim to Nazi ideology
www.scientificamerican.com
The first Acts of tyranny and first book burnings by the Nazis in 1933 was the burning of the research and library of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld who founded the Institute of Sexology which pioneered transgender research and treatment. This is where they start. We must protect trans people.

Many are calling for Chuck Schumer's resignation. What hasn't been reported until now is that any Senate Democrat can offer a motion to challenge his leadership position, and it would have to get a vote within 7 days. From @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social:

In the UK, when a political leader fails in a spectacular fashion such as this, what happens?
The people mad today were equally mad six months ago when the same thing happened and then forgot it happened mostly. With that said I think the risk for Dems is that the rage persists in an inchoate way that can’t even really be cured, since no one remembers where it came from

Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.
1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.
Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!
