Just a doctor trying to get by in a late-stage capitalist country
Views are my own
I thought they were gonna get the “illegal criminals” out of the country… not legal immigrant kidney transplant doctors 🤔 This kinda makes me think it wasn’t about making our country safer after all….
A kidney transplant specialist and professor at Brown University’s medical school has been deported from the U.S., even though she had a valid visa and a court order temporarily blocking her expulsion, according to her lawyer and court papers.

Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a kidney transplant specialist and Brown University professor who had a valid visa, was expelled in apparent defiance of a court order.

The ultimate Pitchbot. Cause this is really what it is.
My kids have measles, my wife’s been locked up by ICE, and my business has gone bankrupt because of tariffs. But at least I know that Trump got rid of DEI.

The detention of Mahmoud Khalil puts all Americans fundamental rights at risk. And if you can’t see that because you oppose his politics, well that’s exactly the reaction Trump and his cronies are counting on. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

The people in power intend to completely annihilate scientific infrastructure, capacity, & research in the US. No institution will be spared if its mission is to advance science.

Everyone is already a target, whether you speak up or not. So, institutions, consider speaking up.

Kind of feels like there wasn’t a mandate to destroy the health insurance program that covers 24% of Americans in order to fund a giant tax giveaway for billionaires and corporations, but maybe it’s just me.

The “pro-life” party is about to strip healthcare away from children, older adults, and disabled folks, in order to help fund their $3 trillion tax cuts for the uber-wealthy.
Looks like tomorrow will bring votes on a Republican plan to fund tax cuts for the rich by slashing Medicaid.

So this is a great time to contact your Member of Congress.

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges.

This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

Tesla reported $6.7 billion in profit in those years.

One of the many ways this horror show of an administration is going to fuck up science and health. Unreal.
quick explainer:

When a scientist wins a competitive NIH grant, it goes legally to their institution. A typical (R01) grant budget is near $500k per year to the scientist and lab (direct costs). The university gets add’l money from NIH (indirects), up to more than 60% extra, for science support.
