It's been five years since the first Covid lockdown

And now 3/4 of the public say they're MORE or JUST AS likely to support full lockdown measures to prevent the spread of a pandemic as they were in 2020

This does seem like it, though. The “it’ll be alright on the night” strategy shows an admirable level of self-confidence, but feels very misguided
It is really difficult to understand what Labour's political strategy is. Steadily alienating core supporters in the hope of winning them back in a few years seems unwise.

A new Savanta poll for us shows that while supporters of Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens all back British troops being sent to Ukraine as peacekeepers, Reform voters oppose it

@chrishopkins92.bsky.social: "any lingering sense that these [Reform supporters] are just Tories in disguise is wrong"
Reform voters buck the national trend of supporting British troops being sent to Ukraine as peacekeepers, according to new @savanta.bsky.social polling

People who intend to vote Labour, Tory, Lib Dem & Green all support the move, the poll showed

However, a majority of Reform supporters oppose it

Absolutely gutted that Richard has left Savanta but the work he did with us in a year will have a lasting impact well beyond his tenure. The research world is better for having his communications expertise staying in the sector - Ipsos are very lucky to have him.

My mum helpfully reminded me this morning that four years ago I ran 260km in the month of January and this year I've done... what, exactly? She meant it nicely, but jfc the subtext was scathing.

All those normal people engaging with politics, in totally normal ways, like running for political office and hacking the website of your opponent's deputy leader.
Badenoch now presenting herself as a truth-teller, unafraid to make herself unpopular.

'I did not study politics. I studied engineering. I see politics as normal people do, as an outsider. I am fascinated by how things work.'

Irrespective of what I think will happen, it'll be interesting to see how the bookies would price a Runcorn by-election. Whoever doesn't start as favourite, I'd imagine they'd present some decent value: I'd probably price Labour and Reform as pick'em
