I’ve been thinking about it by thinking of humanity in WALL-E but without the nice chairs or really any sort of caretaking at all by the people reaping the benefits. CRUEL-E might be more accurate.

Hawley literally foaming at the mouth.
Hawley ended up getting so aggressive toward Ellison, including calling for his arrest, that even Rand Paul asked him to tone it down

This feels like a willfully irresponsible headline, @npr.org… who are you trying to appease with this framing?

"On one hand, here's this actual thing happening in pop culture. On the other hand, here's some wet garbage we found while searching behind that abandoned dumpster in the woods where all those kids died of tetanus last year. Which will be more popular? We asked two rabid raccoons."
This is a small issue but I do think it's endemic of how the mainstream press is treating everything: giving the TPUSA Kid Rock "alternative Super Bowl halftime show" the same weight as Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl, like the former will get even 1/100000000th of the audience of the latter.

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post

Once again underscoring the idea that the only way to have meaning in one's life is by producing wealth within the capitalist system (which, of course, mostly helps the wealthy elites). This feels as depraved as Musk's obsession with population decline.
Dr Oz: "If we could get the average American to start working a year earlier, right out of high school, or a year later -- not retire -- or work better during their lifetime because they're healthy, it would generate about $3 trillion to the US economy. That would more than remove the debt."

I had completely forgotten Catherine O’Hara played Kenneth’s mom but also wow the jokes per minute on that show was just insane.

But if I can’t hold myself to this unreasonable standard, where will I source all my creative shame????

Just kidding I have plenty of other sources of creative shame.
Not pictured: Haruki Murakami’s wife, or indeed whoever is cooking, cleaning, paying bills, running errands, doing the laundry, answering emails, etc

like yea his routine is goals, but let’s not lie to ourselves about all the invisible work others are doing to enable him to have that routine

I do want to know how many people who work at Palantir have read Lord of the Rings. I could excuse someone who has only seen the films not clocking that Palantirs are bad, but if you’ve read the books then this is like working for a company called “The Dark Side, Inc.”
Palantir employees are pressing company leadership over its work for ICE in internal company Slacks obtained by @wired.com

"In my opinion ICE are the bad guys. I am not proud that the company I enjoy so much working for is part of this."

Ah yes the famous law enforcement foundations of our country, like the Boston Tea Party or, I don’t know, the fucking Revolution?
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "Our country was founded on law enforcement"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

Interestingly, “precocious broken man-boy” is not a terrible description of the president.
This looks and sounds like a letter read aloud in a Wes Anderson movie by one of his precocious boys or broken men
