Tokyo Godfathers (2003) • rewatch — A Christmas & New Year's film that runs the gamut of emotions. It's a briskly paced series of misadventures about three homeless people, each with a bit of tragedy in their pasts, and the abandoned baby they find while rummaging through a dumpster.

Finished reading "The Hero and the Crown" by Robin McKinley. Hate to say it, but this one didn't do anything for me. I didn't find the characters, plot, or setting interesting. It's standard fantasy fare: a magical princess warrior defeats a dragon and an evil wizard king.

Hi there. Isn't it interesting how the most popular TV shows and movies this year (Sinners, Kpop Demon Hunters, and Heated Rivalry) were all hyper specific stories, proving that "universal appeal" (i.e. appealing to white straight folks) is not actually that appealing?

It's a Wonderful Life (1946) • rewatch — A perfect movie, what can I say. Warms my ice-cold heart every time. It's probably the definitive "charming movie" that also happens to work nicely for Christmastime (though that aspect of it is fairly incidental).
