Spinelessness is contagious. Susan Collins infected Angus King. King passed it to next-door neighbors Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan. It made its way west to Dick Durbin, then to Catherine Cortez Masto, who infected Jacky Rosen. I suspect John Fetterman had it and infected nearby Tim Kaine.

The point of having a standards editor is that you bring in a skilled, disinterested person to read or watch a story and point out possible bias, errors and lapses.

The actual story editors can miss those things because they're so closely tied to the production and reporting of the piece.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

I want names. Who are the D senators cooking up this bullshit compromise?
Afternoon reports that some Democratic Senators may yield completely to Republican demands in return for the mere scheduling of a December vote to keep premiums affordable for those relying upon the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This would represent trading something for nothing.
November 9, 2025 at 11:07 PM
My wife and I just called both WA senators to urge them to reject any compromise funding that doesn’t include extension of ACA subsidies.
