I love this metaphor for having AI take over key tasks like writing summaries, doing literature reviews, etc...
Yes, please have your LLM buddy lift weights for you. You are now a gym nut
Someone wise on here gave the perfect metaphor. When you’re in the gym, the weights don’t actually need to be moved. The outcome you’re looking for is what changes inside you when you move the weights.

Office is dead... But my documents are still all messed up when someone accidentally opens them 'the wrong way's (i.e. in the app instead of the browser...)
Can we fix this before we make anything "smarter"?

Who are the experts / journalists / researchers you turn to for critical perspectives on AI & the tech world? I created a feed of experts who watch AI developments with a skeptical & critical (but *informed*) POV. I'd love more people to follow it, but I'm also looking to add people - recs welcome!

This is a disgraceful article @thetimes.com Do you not understand that a NATO protected country has already stated ‘they are not for sale’. You are aware the UK is also being threatened with tariffs. We are in NATO!

How much would Greenland cost if Denmark sold it to Trump?
In 1946 the US offered a price of $100 million in gold. It would be worth far more than that today — if it’s available at all

Nominate someone for the 2026 edition of The Sarah Jones Award for exceptional contribution to fostering collaboration in #OpenScience! #OpenResearch

Open to all, though a demonstration of contribution within the RDA @researchdataall.bsky.social community is of great importance.
Nominations Open – 2026 Sarah Jones Award | Aleksandra Lazić, PhD
While going through things I might want to save before I delete my X account, I came across a chat from March-May 2023, back when it was still Twitter, with Sarah Jones (@SarahRoams). Her last message...

Labels matter. Even seemingly positive ones can reinforce unequal expectations about who’s a “natural” and who’s a “striver.” Our paper is now in press at Developmental Psychology:

Terrible decision that will damage scientific integrity to the core

This paper is batshit insane. It also (of course) has A TON of bullshit references that do not exist. Hey @springernature.com retract this AI slop and fire the editor that let it pass. There is evidently no review or quality assurance process in place at this journal.

Hey, did you know that Greek lost the phoneme /h/ because of secularism? You see, /h/ intrinsically symbolises the Creator. And hydrogen.

This journal is published by @springernature.com , and is hosted by @nature.com. How did this incoherent nonsense make it into print?

Scholars, please cite yourselves when relevant! You are creating a body of work, a world even, and we want to know where all the pieces are, and how they fit together.
I saw a LinkedIn post making fun of senior scholars for citing themselves, but I've seen academics Columbus entire well developed fields of study and be applauded for it by the AHA, so...?

Spoiler: they aren’t.

I’ll start with a hypothetical based on a thing I have dealt with a thousand times. Person comes in and says, “I don’t remember the title or the author but I know it’s about vampires.”
