I have been campaigning for a UK-EU Youth Mobility scheme for 5 years along with some superb partners in @bestforbritain.org and ABTA. So I was very proud to be at the #labconf25 to hear the chancellor speak so positively about the government’s intention to implement this scheme.

This should help UK Govt be more courageous in the coming EU 'reset' negotiations...the EU will want ambition on youth mobility, which is a harder sell than the 'veterinary' deal Nick Thomas-Symonds is pushing on today. Of course all of this still relatively cosmetic for total trade purposes.
Seasonal Businesses in Travel (SBiT) and ABTA have revealed new research showing strong public support for securing a youth experience deal with the EU, as it urges the government to press ahead with negotiations with the EU following May’s UK-EU Summit. 1/n

Brilliant job there Labour - your voters think you're anti immigration (while they're pro) and reform and Tories think you're pro immigration (while they're anti)
Despite Keir Starmer trying to set out a tougher line on immigration, Britons tend to see him as pro-immigration - especially those who are themselves anti-immigration
% who see Keir Starmer as being...
Pro-immigration: 35%
Neither pro/anti: 19%
Anti-immigration: 28%

Heck, a year ago I was quite often told there would be no UK EU reset while Labour's red lines stayed in place. There was going to be no summit. The EU would do nothing. And so on.

Good - this is a common sense growth lever for the Chancellor. We already have youth mobility schemes with a dozen non-EU countries. And two thirds of Brits would support such a scheme.
