“The US Military has been terrorizing other citizens in other countries for decades. Time to bring our boys home and have them do a local terrorism.”
Comer: "We're gonna support doing this in other cities if it works out in Washington DC. We spend a lot on our military. Our military has been in many countries around the world for the past two decades walking the streets trying to reduce crime. We need to focus on the big cities in America now."

“I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed,” said then-Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Oct. 9, 2023… This was not a secret. It was the proclaimed policy. And it has been followed as such, on and off, ever since.”
For @forward.com, I wrote about how we know that Israel has been withholding food as a military tactic because Israeli officials have said versions of “we are withholding food as a military tactic” for the entirety of the war and pretending otherwise is willful ignorance forward.com/opinion/7586...
Is starvation in Gaza really Israel's fault? The facts are clear
Rising starvation in Gaza may have a number of factors. But Israel's wartime policies on humanitarian aid are inarguably among them.

In the US, a few municipalities have lowered the voting age to 16 for some of their local elections. Bolts reported in April on how Newark was allowing 16- and 17-year olds to vote in school board elections, a reform inspired by teenage activists.

This month for the first time, 16- and 17-year olds will help decide Newark’s school board members thanks to a measure passed last year, just the third reform of its kind in the nation.

Dem party elites seem to be settling on a MAGA-lite narrative to explain the current crisis: "woke" went too far, borders got too porous and coastal elites lost touch with the heartland.

In addition to being wrong, this is a losing electoral proposition, as lite loses to the real thing every time.

the benefit of a moderate position remains unclear to me. why is it good just because it's moderate—especially when one side is nazis
It really is. Instead of having a commons where a moderate position is reached through interaction and consensus, we now have blobs separating to the far poles, and more extreme ideology proliferates on both sides. It's 'elective' polarization because the platform doesn't stop hate speech.

And yet all anyone talks about is the motives and tactics of the people opposing it.
