Librarian, humanist, 100% homo sapien, anti-bigot.
I have been feeling sad I had to miss the Karl Ove Knausgård talk tonight but this almost makes up for it.
Do you all know the joys of the Danish Voice Actor for Starscream in the original Transformers cartoon? I promise you aren't ready for it.

It's not advisable to communicate unsubstantiated information to someone you know is a librarian. We are going to try and verify those claims, bud.

"In any civilized society, it is every citizen's responsibility to obey just laws. But at the same time, it is every citizen's responsibility to disobey unjust laws."

My husband at the library is like a kid in a candy store. He comes home with more than 20 books from the New Books section every time.

Renee Good should not have had to die for folks to realize things have gone too far. How long ago was Ferguson?

Please come to the Bay Area! End the Safeway monopoly!

I would like to point out that "Orange is the New Black" totally warned us about this private prisons cashing in on draconian immigration policy.
32 people died in ICE custody last year — the agency’s deadliest year in over two decades.

Meanwhile, private prison corporations that are building and overseeing ICE detention centers are raking it in.

Cashing in on cruelty.

Starting in the late 80's I swore off all American shows about cops, lawyers, hospitals and businesspeople. Threw in political dramas as a treat later on. I am so thankful my brain didn't pickle in the brine of all the copaganda and minsinfo that some people seem to have fallen prey to.

I think some folks have failed to understand Teyana Taylor's character in "One Battle After Another." Agree with her decisions or not, she was juggling some deeply held values with a constant threat of violence and the psychology of extreme forms of resistance-- something very few people relate to.

One of my neighbors is blasting "If I Could Turn Back Time." I'd be annoyed, but I totally get it.

Repulsive. They should be ashamed of themselves, but they never will be.
We’ve been trying to tell y’all for years.
MN police unions released a statement in support of ICE. They are not going to arrest any of them.

What does one do with an excess of screws and other doo dads that are clearly unneeded?

I had a nightmare last night in which I made espresso and steamed milk and let them sit until the foam and crema were fully separated and THEN tried to do latte art. THE HUMANITY.

I didn't even leave enough room at the top when I started. Just awful.

I'm sure Nazis seemed unstoppable as well, but they weren't. It took the efforts of people all over the world, engaging in all manner of resistance without them necessarily knowing what the others were doing. It also took rot from within, which has already begun.

I was a barista and manager and food service worker for most of my adult life and I can verify.
I teach bystander intervention for a living and have taught de-escalation to law enforcement.

Trust me when I say that bottle girls, gas station clerks, strippers, front desk employees at hotels and airports, baristas, etc. have better de-escalation skills than any cop I've ever seen.

I know voting alone won't solve this, but we need to show these tyrants that no amount of rigging the system can make up for siphoning our labor into a piggy bank for cruelty. We need to decimate them everywhere we can. And no squishy pants moderates! We need fighters, not folders!

Let's give shout outs and support to this absolute queen.
Oh my gosh you guys! The House just passed my bill to extend the health care tax credits for three more years!

Amazing character on display here. He even assaults a man WHO HE APPROACHED, pushing him back as if he were the one in danger. Lowest of the low.
DHS agents are stomping on Renee Good's memorial.

Rewatching the 13th Doctor and I think the soundtrack actually hurts these episodes. It's always bleak even when the scene is silly or heartwarming. It makes the jokes flat and gives it the mood of Happy Valley. #DoctorWho

Did it even matter for Fetterman to beat Oz? What a waste of energy.

Resistance film recommendation of the week: Flame and Citron.
One of Mads Mikkelsen's Danish roles, showcasing the toll tyranny takes on people and the lengths to which they will go to end it.

If you are willing to kill in order to snatch immigrants, your motives are absolutely tyrannical.

Lying about it to our faces, is just stomping us with the boot.

How are we supposed to continue working?

It cannot be a coincidence that the people who are the most uncritically zealous about AI also tend to be the most fashy.

One of my pet peeves is when people respond w/ pre-emptive arguments about things I have not said, as if they are just expecting me to be a jerk about something, or when I say something and people take it as a personal comment about themselves.
Me: I enjoy brutalism.
Them: I never said it was bad!
