Also: I never want to have a wake. I hope my family respects my wishes there. Rather than weep over my dead body, gather in the spring or summer, after a time. Play music. Laugh. Share stories. Eat strawberries and chocolate. Celebrate. Let my memory nourish your soul.
Today was the wake for my husband’s grandmother where I spent 3 hours shaking hands with people I don’t know. Like clockwork, every 3rd person commented on how cold my hands were. Leave it to a connective tissue disorder to mess with circulation, so much so that it shocked senior citizens. Sigh. 🤦🏻♀️

Getting to drive to the airport at midnight because air travel to PEI sucks = super fun times.

My husband’s grandmother passed away last night. She was 98. We were so so blessed to have her in our lives for so long, especially since my mother-in-law died 10 years ago.

I get to experience different kinds of pain (super fun), and the absolute worst is the lightning bolt kind. I end up twitching about so much and it’s impossible to get comfortable. Give me buzzing throbbing pain any day…

Fascial stretch days are my fave....it's when I get to feel like goo. It also makes the RAPID release I also get done more manageable (it's a super painful procedure but it does help w. chronic pain).

The “what should poor people be allowed to eat” debate is infuriating.
The answer is simple.
They should be allowed to eat anything.
It’s no one’s business.
Ideally we would agree that food is a basic human right & it would be plentiful for all.
Until then, stop judging. Fed is best.

I’m sad this Halloween. (Where I live, weather postponed trick or treating until today.) Husband is away and I just don’t feel like I did anything halloweeny at all. Family dealing w medical things has taken up our October and I never even managed to buy one single pumpkin. Next year I guess! 😔

October is almost over and I feel like I wasn’t prepared for it. I haven’t even bought any pumpkins yet (likely won’t at this stage). We returned from UK over 3 weeks ago but we’ve been in limbo since, as we await news on 2 critical care family members, one here, one in Scotland. It’s hard.

Taking in Open House at UPEI with my teen today. Feels weird to acknowledge that it’s been approx 25 years since I was a student here…

If I were granted one wish, (aside from like world peace and feeding/housing people), I’d wish for the ability to sleep like a normal person. I’m exhausted all the time, yet I cannot sleep…and it sucks.

Vaccine day for our family today (flu and Covid), and our youngest has a severe phobia of needles. It takes a lot of patience and strategy to get her to calm state to accept a needle. We take up a lot of time (I do call ahead and tell staff this). 🧵/1

I spent much of the day in my role as Chauffeur to my kids…but I did manage somehow to attend a rally for Palestine. Those always fill my heart. It’s encouraging to see the support from the community! 🇵🇸

I tend to take mist things about myself in stride. I laugh at myself because why not? But this whole not sleeping/chronic pain part of me can have some real lows, let me tell you. Tonight I hate whatever part of me is broken and won’t let me sleep.

First day back at physio exercises in close to a month. They went as well as you’d expect. I had been riding a nice daily trend since March, but, alas, travel interrupted that streak. Time to find my groove again! (I’ll accept cheerleading! Daily physio is not exactly fun.)

This week was a challenge for many reasons (post-trip catch up with work, supporting kids catching up with school, some family medical stuff going on, and stupid pain flare-up), but my heart remains full of gratitude for the many blessings I have. I promise I'll stop spewing sap all over here soon.

We are back on PEi, approximately 25 hours later. Haven’t slept since Friday night so gosh darn it is my bed gonna feel nice. Epic trip, such great memories, and I’m happy to be back home now.

Air Lufthansa was a treat! Excellent service, friendly staff, actual meals (plural!) with (gasp!) real cutlery…way above Air Canada in terms of service. I’d absolutely fly them again.
Now in Toronto (yay, 🇨🇦!) waiting for our last flight home.

Today is travel day for us, but in the most roundabout way. Our first flight (2 hours) left Glasgow at 6am (that was fun). We’re now in frankfurt airport, hanging out here for 3 more hours. Then a 9 hour flight to Toronto, followed by a 6 hour wait, and then lastly, we fly into PEI at midnight. 🤪

Alarm goes off in 40 min and I’m finding I’m finally wanting to nod off of course. Now switching tactics to keeping self awake. This night sucks, friends.

I have yet to fall asleep and our alarm goes off in 90min…at 2:30am (need to be at airport shortly after 3). Not scheduled to land back on PEi until close to midnight. It’s gonna be a long ass travel day, made worse by zero sleep. Yay.
