@espiers.bsky.social 1) obviously they’re idiots and assholes out there. No doubt.

2) but there remains a real problem of respecting democracy on federalism. Is a moral and philosophical challenge to figure out what to do. Obviously, we should care, but what to do is difficult to figure out.

The central lie — the key dishonesty — of modern conservatism is that being judgmental about the ethnicity or language or culture of the person next door is fine and acceptable, but being judgmental of that attitude is elitist and arrogant and closed-minded. What vapid bullshit.

This is, I would offer, a great example of when it's better to teach skills than content; It's impossible to keep up with the background knowledge needed to spot an AI video.

Develop the skill of lateral reading and you'll be better off than someone who stares at a video trying to spot the tells.
This person is one hundred percent correct and it’s scary af. We will never “media literacy” our way out of this as a society. We are about to reap the whirlwind when it comes to misinformation, disinformation, and informational warfare.

I’m starting to think that article of the constitution about qualified immunity and presidential immunity was a bad idea.

My wife (attorney) just faced a motion that included fabricated case citations and fake quotes from real cases.

She got the case dismissed because the opposition didn’t show up to an important oral argument in court, so she didn’t beat it in misuse of AI grounds.

But she’s faced one, now.

@kenwhite.bsky.social In your practice, how many trials do you actually do a year?

Are you mostly criminal or civil law?

How much appellate work do you do in a year?

(Most people have no clue how much litigation work is on cases that never make it to trial— for one reason or another.)

What is so hard to understand about, “I really hate non-white people amd foreigners, and don’t care that much about the bottom 90, 95 or 99% of Americans“?

That seems to explain what you don’t think is reconcilable?

@espiers.bsky.social what are you normal base shoes to travel with? What’s your second pair.

The big thing for my female friends when traveling is needing a bigger bag for shoes. (Men rarely travel with as many.)

@emilypeck.bsky.social oh, yeah. AirTags in ever piece of luggage I use. In every bag I use around. In my car. Yeah.

Totally changes waiting for checked bag. You can see when it gets closer to the luggage claim area. Way less anxiety.

@felixsalmon.com a chirping AirTag is often low on battery power. Need a new battery.

Don’t get one that with the anti-toddler butter tasting coating. Won’t work.

@kentremendous.bsky.social @joeposnanski.com the politics surveys that Mike is thinking of are generally 650 respondents, not 350.

Margin of error depends on both sample size and the distribution within the population. That 650 was selected based on assuming a 50-50 split.

@emilypeck.bsky.social @espiers.bsky.social it’s not the cane sugar. It all changes into the same sugars in the coke.

Mexican coke has more salt. Flavor enhancer. Tastes more, even though chemically, no more sweeteners.

This guys walks through the science and the proof.

@kenwhite.bsky.social my wife just me that she just replaced all the space-spaces in a brief with single spaces.

She said she did it so I would stop calling her “a lawyer like [my] father” on the internet.

I believe we all have you to thank for this.

What if:

One parent believes that charity towards others is of God and not Caesar, something for the church and not the state.

Another parent religiously believes that charity must suffuse everything we do.

How do schools then teach about The New Deal and the Great Society at all?

@jonbecker.bsky.social I am not seeing anything that keeps this from applying to library books.

In the opinion, the problem is that the books *themselves* presented a normative view, declaring how students should view/feel about same-sex marriage.
