John Robertson has died. He was a brilliant footballer, a European Cup winner and a lovely guy. He gave me a memorable and moving interview ten years ago. What a man...

Samson Leonard Biddle, 37, failed to stop for police, driving extremely dangerously. Eventually, tactical contact stopped him.

Upon being arrested, he refused to give a specimen.

You might not be terribly reassured to learn that he received just a 6-month suspended sentence and 4-year driving ban.

It's really difficult to understand why the opportunity has been missed to improve the environment here for the thousands of workers who will be accessing the new offices by public transport every day. Surely there was Section 106 money for improving provision for buses, cycling and walking?
I presume rather than a continuous row of HVM bollards they’ve tried to break it up with some concrete blocks disguised as seating, but it looks untidy IMO & acts as an obstacle course.

Careful manoeuvring will be required by bus drivers & wheelchair users to board/alight here.

The managing director of Teesside airport is running the publicly owned business while holding a remarkable conflict of interest: he’s also on the books of an investor who tried to buy the airport and has snaffled up a large swathe of adjacent land.

It is completely glorious how shit this looks. Just magnificent work. Slightly different lettering. A bit wonky. Didn’t even remove “THE” at the beginning of the second line. Chef’s kiss.

If your cost-benefit model tells you it isn't worth investing in a tram or light rail system for an urban area with a population of well over 1m, like Leeds-Bradford, your model is wrong and should be thrown in the bin.

Which will happen first:

a) A space elevator
b) A Leeds tram?

I despair at the unseriousness of this country sometimes.

Major cities without mass transit should be as unthinkable as major cities without sewers.
