I love Small Prophets. There's so few charming programmes, but this is. And Michael Palin is just a delight.

I’m very far from the only person saying this, but it seems clear what is happening in the camps is worse than anything we’ve seen in public so far—including Minneapolis.

At some point we will know the truth about the camps. I am very afraid of what we will learn.
"A modern-day concentration camp ... People have been killed by the staff here." Irish citizen Seamus Culleton has been in ICE detention since September, despite having a valid work permit and his own business in the US.

No, but I could be if that's the case.

So many weird salads and damp, spinach-y wraps, when a homemade cheese sandwich is so obviously the Lunch King.

No, but I'll suggest it!

Watching another subtitled Scandi noir with my husband.
Him: 'this'll be the quirky female police officer who's just had a painful breakup.'
Two scenes in: 'they're having an affair, so he's the chief suspect.'
Shortly after: 'the camera lingered on him - he's the murderer.'
And he's always right. 🙄

There's a one hour special on Nigel Farage and Reform UK, and whether they are ready to lead, on BBC2

Presumably, there will be a similar one hour special on Zack Polanski, and whether The Greens are ready to lead, as well?

The WaPo cuts are devastating. And to cut the Books section entirely makes the already bleak critical landscape even more bare. This was all preventable but Bezos, who could find the post I perpetuity without noticing it, is hellbent on destroying the Post. And for what?

Yes and miserable whistling wind and raggy dresses. Much prefer Margot in scarlet PVC!

I haven't seen it, but a) there are several versions like this b) books are not films. C) the director has made it clear this is a fantasy not a strict adaptation d) Hollywood has always glossed up literature to put bums on seats. E) I have read it 'all the way through' and the film sounds fun.
Dear Film Industry,
Wouldn't it be nice to have a film version of WUTHERING HEIGHTS that was:
1. Filmed in Yorkshire
2. With actors that one could plausibly believe to be from Yorkshire
3. Of the right age (teens and 20s)
4. Actually scripted by someone who has read the book ALL the way through?

American friends: can I ask, what's the general vibe like- are your Trump supporting families & neighbours doubling down and MAGA-ing up, or is there more of a 'hang on a minute, maybe this guy's been lying to us' feel?
