Normalising ideas which just a few years ago would have been regarded as career ending extremism but now are seen as legit, because they are constantly in every centre right MP and journalist's X replies, may end being Elon Musk's most lasting, and most destructive, impact on British politics.

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

Whether it is out of sheer incompetence or ideological alignment, this government is doing the far right's work

The only consistent thing they have done since getting in power is echo reactionary talking points. There is not one bad faith reactionary tirade they won't lap up and recite.

With the honourable exception of @zoejardiniere.bsky.social, I don't think I've heard anyone on broadcast media laying out the objective fact that the immigration "crisis" is a wholly manufactured piece of political theatre that benefits a tiny minority of Britain's very richest people.
